Who's going to suck it up and watch this and report back how terrible it is?

quote:

Vacation turns disaster when Houston grad, Kyle and her friends escape a plane crash in the desolate Louisiana everglades, only to discover there's something way more dangerous lurking in the shallows.

A killer alligator movie where the people making the movie aren't sure if they are in Louisiana or Florida, and decided to film in the jungles of the Philippines. What could go wrong?

Could have at least changed their accents

Just to make sure that no one uses this phrase in casual conversation... The Everglades is a specific region of Florida, not a common name for similarly flooded grasslands.

No idea. It supposedly came out in in SE asia already. I was looking at new movies to torrent and saw this one call The Bayou so naturally i was curious what kind of stupidity this was going to be and i wasn't disappointed. I downloaded it so i'll attempt to watch it at some point.

Looks like it's only available to rent right now, but might be free on Plex, as Plex as some streaming movies for free on it's platform. I haven't checked that to confirm though.

I watched it awhile back. As bad as you could imagine. At no point did any of the water scenes look even remotely like a bayou. More like a small, shallow river in west Texas.

The spot where the plane crashes looks like the retention pond in a neighborhood. Typical Mary Sue lead character. Ethnic characters good. White men bad. Didn’t finish it but I think it was trying to be a cocaine gators type movie because they showed a mystery green substance spilling from a drug smuggler camp as it begins. Very low budget.

Watched it last night and man that was bad, almost enjoyably bad, as expected.

Do you think they made this movie and was proud of what they did, or did they intentionally make it bad?

Spoilers, I guess…..
They leave Houston and they are driving on this lonely road with mountains in the background. Clearly are in a jungle with banana trees but then they’ll mix in drone shots of an actual swamp with cypress trees.
The entire premise of the people on that shitty plain, which was flying without any authorization yet for some reason carrying 10 people who paid to go from Houston to Gainesville, was beyond unrealistic. Then the token dumb white guy is a jerk about talking on his phone while they are in the air and someone stands up and bumps their head on the tiny plain which causes the plain to crash. So the guy was just on the phone, in a flying plane, plane crashes, and everyone’s phone is now conveniently dead or doesn’t have a signal.
The hilarity of the alligator killings and their silly horror movie decisions as a group continues from there, until the end where a never ending supply of whisky from a flask and what I can only assume will be a sequel with a mutant human end the movie in the weirdest way possible.

Best scene hands down, and the one that makes me think they make movies bad on purpose, you see in the trailer the girl trying to give the alligator the egg back. Seems like a sweet move and one where the alligator shows compassion, but nah, just chomps her fricking arm off after they try to make it a sweet moment.
