Pittsburgh for a Steelers Game

My brother and I and a few buddies do a Packers road trip every year and this year we're planning to head to Pittsburgh. It's a Sunday night game on 10/26 and we'll likely get to town Friday leaving Monday. Mostly curious about what area(s) of town are best for this type of weekend, or those that should definitely be avoided.
I heard there's a whole area around the stadium where there are bars, restaurants, tailgating happening...would welcome any thoughts on that as well.

Go have a few beers at the Chruch Brew Works. One of the most unique bars I've even been in. Its a quick Uber from downtown.

Looks like there's a few other breweries in the area. Could be a good way to spend part of Saturday

There are definitely worse things to do on a cool Saturday in the fall.
Spend Saturday in the neighborhoods and Sunday at those bars around the stadium, which get really crowded.

I went a few years ago for three Cardinals-Pirates games, and a Tennessee-Pitt football game.
We stayed at the Omni William Penn. Great experience there. It's right across the street from the subway, which was free to ride across the river to the football and baseball stadiums.
We didn't hang out in the area near the stadiums beforehand as we went to other parts of the city. The Strip District was really cool. We went there a couple times. Bars and restaurants everywhere. Little shops.
We walked around Point State Park at the confluence of the 3 rivers. Rode one of the inclines, where there are bars and restaurants.
Overall, it's a really cool city. I rode the subway more there in 3 days than I've ridden the public transportation in the decade I've lived in St Louis. It's free inside the city. There is a stop at the football stadium and one kind of between the football and baseball stadiums. It's also easy to walk across some of the bridges. We did that after Point State Park to get over to the stadium for the baseball game.

I'm here for a while for work ....
Stay downtown or the strip. Both are walkable and offer dining / entertainment options. Everything is pretty easy in this town, but those two areas are best for game weekends relative to location of the event.

It's pretty small actually. Depends on how you feel about crowds.
Market Square and Strip District are better bar areas imo. My personal favorite is probably The Eagle in the Cultural District (between Liberty Ave and the Allegheny). I've never been on gameday so I have no idea what the crowds are like.
Downtown is fine, really, especially compared to other American cities. Liberty Ave can get a little sketchy, but you go one street over and it's perfectly fine. Only other slightly sketchy area downtown is west of Market and South of Forbes, but that's not a place you're going to just find yourself on a Sunday.
Someone mentioned the T. It's free downtown so I definitely recommend using it.
If you need parking, look at the Mellon Square garage. It's only like $8 on the weekends and you can take the T from Steel Plaza.

Some of the best bars downtown and the strip ....
The Warren
Commonwealth for a smash burger and drink
Plenty of bars with all the games on during football season
Balvanera in the strip is a great meal. So is Bar Marco (need resys in advance)
Iron Forge Pizza is decent and a local fave
Fet Fisk is a cool, seafood forward spot in the middle of the city. As is Butterjoint.
Lots of places in Lawrenceville on Butler St.
The food here can be a bit uneven, but good italian and eastern european. And a shite ton of burger and pizza joints.

I just hope we get our tickets before Rodgers signs with them or prices will be outrageous.

We stayed at the William Penn Hotel and the place had a great vibe all weekend. Lots of former players stayed there. It looks like it’s across the parking lot from the stadium but it is still a really long walk IMO. I didn’t see anything that felt close to the stadium as far as Gameday places to go. We didn’t look that hard either, and went from the hotel to the stadium.

Altius or Monterey Bay Fish Grotto for a nice meal up the incline.
Meat & Potatoes if downtown.
Second Church Brew Works!

Found a great deal/place in Southside Flats so grabbed that for now. But seems like it's pretty easy to get to the Strip, downtown, airport, and over to the stadium. Thanks for the recommendations so far.

Last time I was in PIT Airport, they were still selling those terrible towels. So, there you go.
