One of the best to ever do it.

I wonder if he’ll stop touring thought he was going to stop touring 8 or 9 years ago.

He’s 1 of 1, but you’re right he’s never written a song

It also bugs me that he’s kind of mailed it in when he plays live

I can’t remember what exact show, but my buddy went and tickets were ridiculous. It was in the last two years. He told me he played 8 covers.

I didn’t believe him so I looked online and sure enough; 25% of his set were covers of other artists. wtf man, you could play 3 shows of just #1 hits.

And that’s an addition to his normal songs that are already covers like Stars on the Water and Amarillo by Morning.

Country music star really is the best profession because hardly anyone writes their own stuff and George just sit there and smiles and strums a C note for 2 hours not even plugged in.

My wife and I went to one of his Cowboys Last Ride shows but it turned out not to be his last ride.

Yeah the setlist for his recent shows really is not great

There are a lot of singers who don't write their own songs. I don't see it as a big deal.
I do have a huge respect for those who can write songs.

Saw George Straight play in St Joe, MO at the Civic Arena in 1983 or 84 along with Asleep At The Wheel. The arena floor was setup with tables and a dance floor.... it was one hell of a night.

He’s been trying in his last few albums. He didn’t write any of the songs that made him famous though. Not even a little.

Ill give him slack because most country guys are like this. Nashville is overrun with songwriters and these guys get dozens of songs a week to turn down.

Same with Garth. Friends in Low Places is a Chesnut cover that neither wrote.

Say what you will about Taylor Swift, but she wrote every word she's ever sang. Even at 17 when she released her first country record. I respect her a ton for that.
