Judge upholds $12M verdict against trooper who arrested stroke victim

Absolutely disgusting. The cop should be publicly hanged. She showed deliberate contempt for a US citizen and the Constitution. It needs to be a law that a lien gets attached to any property, assets, bank accounts and a levy on any paychecks to aid in reimbursing the taxpayers for these settlements.

Here is a simple way to quickly assess anyone for stroke symptoms -
BE FAST
B- Balance, sudden loss of balance or lack or coordination
E- Eyes, sudden trouble seeing out of one or both eyes, or double vision
F- Face, sudden drooping of the face on one side (have them smile)
A- Arms, sudden weakness of one arm compared to the other (have them raise both arms straight out in front of them))
S- Speech, sudden trouble speaking or understanding (have them repeat "You can't teach an old dog new tricks".
T- Time to call EMS

You think most cops are capable of that? Good luck, lol.

Take it out of the police pension fund.
They'll start policing their own.

This cop's negligence delayed treatment for a stroke victim by hours. The victim can no longer speak and needs continuous care as a result of that delay. These stories should be public so that the hero worship of police ends.

Is there a video of this? I can’t seem to find one.

Having read your link.. that case is AWFUL.
8am, woman dressed in business clothes, already pulled off road for feeling bad... that soccer trooper was wrong, wrong, wronger than wrong.
I can't imagine being in my 50s and having to live with my mother because I can neither speak nor understand the spoken word.
I'm so glad the stroke lady got a favorable settlement, but that lady soccer cop needs to be in jail.

Forget the Dex angle, lol.
Seriously, the story is really, really awful.
Even after the police department figured out to call for an ambo- because the woman was obviously to all having a medical emergency AND did nothing wrong, they LEFT the stroke victim chained up until meds arrived.
Go with your stroke sympathy and forget Dex.

That cop is just a cop. Surely you don’t expect cops to be able to diagnose medical conditions. If the lady’s conditions had presented in a McDonald’s, should the manager pay? What if it was at a bar, or a ball game, who pays? It’s a sad case, but sometimes bad things happen to good people. It’s not always somebody else’s fault.
Publicly hanged? Deliberate contempt for the Constitution? Man, you need some therapy.

It should have been double that amount and hopefully the cop was fired. Terrible story. When you take someone into custody, you are responsible for them. They did nothing for this poor woman.

Oh look, another Dex Morgan post sniping cops.

I think this sort of thing happens more often than is reported. Cops are so used to seeing people drunk or high that they go straight to that conclusion and completely miss epileptic seizures, autism, blood sugar episodes, etc.
