Everyone talks about how great AB is but I went to the Arkansas series and i don't know but from the looks on TV. Founders Park looks so much better.

Because Founders park is and always has been much better.

And pretty empty. Most people here talk about Alex Box being dated, but also that LSU has fan turnout like few (if any) other college teams. I see very few glowing descriptions of Alex Box, the facility, here.

360 degree concourse, all chairback, berm, actual nice bullpens… a lot of small details LSU could add to make the box more tasteful.

I remember when USC was rocking and that fan base is as rabid as any around

It is great from the atmosphere the fans bring alone. Everything else about Alex box is trash.

Founders Park

Capacity 8,242 (total) 6,600 (seated) Record attendance 8,242

Most of these great parks don’t have near the capacity as the Box.

Do you want cute or do you want all those fans in the stadium?

Went to the Tennessee Saturday game
First game in quite a few years and I quickly remembered why I quit going. Unless you are sitting in the premium areas, it is tight, crammed, and uncomfortable as hell.
Honestly, an awful place to watch a game save for the amazing fans and top notch baseball. Hence it stays packed.

all chairback

This almost by itself makes it better in every way

As Yogi Berra said, " Its always too crowded. Thats why no one goes there,"

It is nicer in my opinion. Went two years ago.

I just want a berm with some BBQ areas in the outfield. That’s all

Why not both? I would like to not sit on metal bleachers in 100 degree heat in the middle the afternoon, but that's just me.

We did that for years at the old Box. Yes, we sweated our butts off at some of those regionals, but we went.

Certainly people would prefer better seating, an overhang, etc. but that costs money.

Founders Park cost more than the new Box; yet it has about half the seats. LSU didn’t have the money to build a 12,000 seat stadium with a huge over hang and all arm chair seats.

Berms do well in stadiums built into hill sides. BQ pits are fine, but there are a lot of issues that go with that. Safety issues, who gets them, etc.

Yeah I've done it many of times as well and it sucks. People used to live with air conditioning too.

Sure, they should raise the money. They just did upwards of $3 million worth of construction this past offseason. I'm not saying it's easy, but the stadium is 16 years old and has had minimal improvements done to it.

Didn’t they say on the broadcast last night that it had JUST had an upgrade?

Everyone here bitches about how nice all of the much smaller parks around the SEC are now. That’s because most of them have been renovated recently. Do you people really think a more than cosmetic renovation of the Box is a top need for the Athletic Dept and TAF right now? It eventually will be, but it just isn’t today.

Baseball is mostly played outside. It begins in the cold and ends when it’s hot. Short of building a fine stadium whatever they do is not going to make it cool at the end of the season,

I suggest that if the heat bothers you that much, stay home and watch it on tv because they aren’t going to air condition he Box.

Just call it the way it really was. Skip was a great coach. The GOAT. But, as an AD, he was cheap as hell. Skip went cheap. It is what it is.
