How safe is it? Pros? Cons? Things to do? Would be two couples.

I got married there and have been like 4 times. If you search you should be able to find threads where I posted all my advice. Beautiful town.

We have friends that moved there 25+ years ago and love it. Many x-pats there and speaking Spanish is not a requirement as most stores/vendors speak English.

A friend of mine lived there for about 5 years and she loved it. Always raved about how great San Miguel was.

How safe is it for tourists? Walking around during the day? At night?

San Miguel de Allende?

Very safe. If you’re staying in the old part of town (which presumably is why you’re going) it’s perfectly safe.
Never had any concerns. The place is incredibly clean as well. They mop the cobble stone streets some mornings.
Things to do? Eat incredible food, drink a lot of mezcal, see the sights. There are vineyards that you can take a trip to within an hour or of the city.

What?
King,
Get out much?
ex-pat = someone who lives or works in a foreign country, often for a temporary period, while still maintaining ties to their home country.
Google is your friend, so you won't look so silly in the future

This is the guy who couldn’t figure out what to do about a full drain pan for his AC. San Miguel might be too much for him.

I believed that he was questioning why you spelled it the way that you did. I found it odd too. You’re criticizing someone for not googling, but did you?
