Joe Biden is the only US President to have been brain dead as VP and President. He also got tough with Corn Pop and Rice Krispies.

That was an angle seized upon by SNL writer’s because Ford had stumbled and fallen over an ottoman while in the Oval Office.
Ironically, Chevy Chase’s portrayal of President Ford as a bumbling klutz, lead to an actual hip and back injury to Chase that eventually lead to his addiction to pain killers. He was ironically treated for the pain killer addiction, as well as alcoholism at the Betty Ford Clinic in the early 80’s and saved his career.
I still remember meeting President Ford and his wife with his S.S. detail, with my sister and my parents at the opening of Raiders in 1981. I was 10, soon to be 11.
We were in Vail at the old, tiny movie theater and its max capacity was 100 - 150 max. Small world

Gerald Ford had a long and significant connection with Vail, Colorado. He and his wife, Betty, first visited Vail in 1968, and the family purchased a condominium there in 1970. Ford's presence, particularly as President, helped raise Vail's profile and contributed to its growth as a year-round destination
President Ford was a founding member of the Vail Valley Foundation, and in the 80s, personally called friends to raise money for a new entertainment venue. The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater was christened with a Willie Nelson concert in 1987. The following year saw the inaugural season of the Bravo
My parents still have that photo in their condo in Vail.

Another piece of trivia. Gerald Ford was not his birth name. He was born Leslie King, Jr.

and another - in spite of Watergate being in 1974, Carter was such an incredibly shitty president that the Democrats lost TWELVE senate seats in 1980
The dems could not cheat back them or they would not because they actually had a shred of integrity (except for Ted Kennedy).

Here's one of my favorites...
Who is the only major party candidate to lose a general election for federal office in all 50 states?

Took a lot of criticism from the media for his trips, slips and spills.
I don't remember the media covering those anymore. It's been more than 4 years.

Ford was a stand-up guy who was handed a couple of positions who didn't even want them, only to be turned into a scapegoat when he was forced to make decisions in order to keep the country moving forward.
Nixon and LBJ both considered him an idiot, but the reality is he wasn't the damned tin-foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist and schemer that brought about the circumstances of Watergate to begin with.
RIP, Mr. Ford, and may history look kindly on your legacy.
