We are closer to Starkville, then Oxford, College Station, Austin, and then Fayetteville. Which school would you consider our rival? History would definitely say Go to Hell, Ole Miss. Our recent history would favor Bama, Auburn, or Florida. Curious as to what the Rant's opinion is on this. I see comments about our infatuation with the aggie. What say you?

We don't have a true rival.

Our rival is whoever is good when we're good, which varies year to year and sport to sport.

We’re closer to Fayetteville than Tuscaloosa and Auburn?

Wouldn’t have thought that given the drive time.

We haven’t had a real main rival since we quit playing Tulane.
All of those SEC schools have someone they dislike more than us.

Well up until around 1962. it was a 80 mile drive to NOLA to play Tulane.

Always so dumb when people say this. No we don’t have an instate named rivalry game.

But Ole Miss, Alabama, and A&M are absolutely rivals.

All three of those teams have bigger rivals than us.

So, no, we don't have a true rival.

What is a “true” rival? This is always such a dumb conversation on here.

It’s a question. Can you not read English?

I asked if we were not closer to Tuscaloosa and Auburn than to Fayetteville. OP said we’re closest to Starkville, Oxford, CS, Austin, then Fayetteville. I don’t think that is correct.

Meaning what I said earlier, our rival is always who is good when we are good.

Then don't partake in it if you're above it.

It’s not, but whatever. There isn’t a single team in the SEC that only has one rival school.

I’d assume we’re also closer to Norman. I think Auburn is easily closer.

Tuscaloser and Starkville are the two SEC towns closest to each other. (That’s all I got.)

I mean yeah, you can make an argument that Auburn is a rival for all the crazy games we had in the 90's. There's a reason people throw the phrase "conference rival" around a lot.

But in terms of the pure hatred that transcends multiple sports, Auburn/Bama MSU/Ole Miss A&M/Texas, we don't have that.
