Baseball purists just don’t like fun. Baseball should be more fun.

So, you get your bat flips, standing at the plate staring at your fly ball, outwardly taunting the other team, and much more. Now we’re having fun. The logical progression in the link, and I blame travel ball.

“That was embarrassing” is an absolute understatement.
Modern amateur baseball culture is the most cringeworthy thing we have going.

I miss brawls. And guys chewing tobacco in the dugout.

And pitchers doing head-hunting.

Especially when they’re throwing at the opposing pitcher.

If you're offended by a bat flip, you're a loser.

Hey, the downvote is there for a reason. If you choose to use it, feel free. If you watched the video and downvoted, I question whether you are a legitimate sports fan.

Offended? Nah. Is it completely unnecessary and ridiculous? Absolutely.

If that makes me a loser in your book, so be it.

Why is showing emotion in a highly competitive sport unnecessary?

Act like you've been there before

Act like you belong

Poise
Decorum
Courtesy
Respect

Understand you are nothing more special than the other 9 people on the field and act accordingly

Do not act like a 3 year old who can't handle emotion and will crap his diaper out of spite... it's embarrassing for everybody involved, especially the player pretending to be hard, but will cry the first time he's slapped across the face like the bitch boy he is... feigning some deep seeded complex is not the answer

How does a bat flip not connote either of these things?

Yes I agree, Female Umpires from Hooters, who go braless and run up and down the foul lines( they'll have no clue about the strike zone), but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bat flip seen as showing up a pitcher and show-boating.

Yeah and it's ridiculous because there is ridiculous shite out there in everything that happens in and out of sports.

But why is the answer to that to remove all emotion from a sport?

But it's cool if a pitcher pumps his fist after a big strikeout?

First, you deflected to one, little part of my post. Now, you’re just trying to put words in my mouth.

I’m all for bat flips. I’m also for the pitcher throwing 100 mph gas at his head the next at bat. You can’t have one without the other.

It’s very simple, if a hitter shows you up like that you either fight him or you ear hole him the next time or two he comes up to bat. I don’t feel sorry for pitchers who let this slide. They’re the ones carrying the dangerous weapon, it’s up to them to make hitters respect that.
