Outdoor TV and ESPN

Time to upgrade my outdoor stuff because my current TV out there is ancient and between it and my Chromecast, something has failed likely do to being out there. So, the question is, for the ESPN app, should I just get something with a reliable app, or continue using things like Chromecast, Roku, etc?
Recs on products would be great. I don't mind cycling cheap TVs if that's the answer.

Cheapest Roku TV you can find.

And never hook it up to internet and stick an Apple TV on it. Even just a used HD or older 4K will be better than the TV itself.

TCL Roku's from Walmart have been great for us. And extra remotes are super cheap on Ebay.

I have taught the wife how to use the Home app already, so this seemed like the best choice for us as she is home alone a lot due to our very different schedules. Got it hooked up and watched the baseball game yesterday. Very pleased and somewhat upset that it may actually look better than my somewhat expensive Sony inside. paid $250 for the 55". Going to cover it religiously and I taped up all the inputs.

Personally I would just get the cheapest TV that is whatever size you want. Try out the built in ESPN app first. If it gives you trouble, you can always go buy a Roku for $25 after the fact.
Edit: Didn't see your latest update. Seems like you got a good deal.

Upgrade your indoor TV and put the old one outside.

Guess that depends on the location. I didn’t do that because the new ones are feather light and perfect for those long arm swinging mounts so you can swing it out away from the weather or over towards the pool or spa.

The ESPN app works surprisingly well on the cheap Onn streaming stick from Wal-Mart if you just need to add a streaming device to an existing TV.

48in TCL Roku TV is less than $200 at Walmart. I bought 2 on sale for $158 EA and they are surprisingly good for streaming and gaming.

Been posted already, but I put a TCL outside and it actually looks really nice and has held up through 2 winters just fine. It's much brighter than my Lg Oled in the TV room and some people like it better even though it cost a fraction of the price
I spent a lot of effort running a zone 2 connection to my receiver and installed two speakers outside so I could mirror the TV room. It's nice but almost not worth the effort. Sometimes it can be flaky. It's a lot easier just to run the YouTube or ESPN apps from the TCL if you aren't going to watch something for very long.

Just remember internal heat is your enemy. Don't make it any harder to cool itself.
We've lost one, they came to the house and fixed it. Power surge. Since then I buy a APC with every single tv any never lost another one.
