FFS and Bassmaster

Guys have hit 100 lbs in 3 days. Kudos for the guys mastering it since its still legal. Question for everyone. Do you think Bassmaster will go the MLF route and allow the anglers to use it say 2 out of 4 days and allow the anglers to pick what days they will use it? I tried watching it, but man I fast forward till they show a guy like Feider or Hackney on the shoreline busting them. Rather cut my yard again I've already cut than see a pro staring at a screen finesse fishing.

Ya I don’t understand the desire in this. What skill is really involved besides who has the most money to purchase the best equipment?

I'm told by the guys who have spent thousands on equipment that it only tells you where the fish are and doesn't actually make them bite. So its not really a huge fricking advantage as someone with common sense would think.

Lol the leader at one point yesterday ordered a pizza. Its a huge advantage for those that know how to use it correctly. Whether you agree or not, Bassmaster will make changes, but now sure how they go about it yet.

The issue isn’t whether or not it’s an advantage or takes skill, it’s a snooze fest watching them.

Don't disagree about watching them stare at a screen live scoping, but this tournament at Fork has produced some good stuff to watch. Cranking, swim jigging, frogging, dragging a big football jig, site fishing, pitching. Seems like they've caught'em just about every way you can.

IF the cameras would stay on the guys working beds, throwing frogs, and topwater I'd watch all day. I remember a few years back Brandon Cobb was hammering giants on topwater at Fork.

McKinney just caught an 8.4

And talking about Tucker, when 6/8 is your smallest fish in the bag... Jesus

Amen, and McKinney's smallest is a 7-1

What's also wild, is that Lee Livesay who also guides on the lake and has won 2 Lake Fork BASS Elite events in recent years, caught like 4lbs and some change on Day 1. Just bizarre that an absolute hammer with all the lake knowledge and technology in the world couldn't get it figured out. I'd make the trek out there and that'd probably be how my day(s) would go

They didn't have a camera in Hackney's boat. I liver on a lake and was out trying to hone on in this FFS stuff. I found a school and caught a few on crank baits. These pros go out on the hunt for the blips on the screen. And I'm getting tired of it. However, hats off to Garmin. It is a hell of a technology. It's just now that's mostly what young folk do. I don't think it is sustainable for say ten years. And there will always be a wave of new former high school and college anglers knocking on the door.

They will need to make a decision where they are going with it by the end of this season. They are going to lose what made it fun to do and to watch.
We will see if they have the sand to change it enough to make a difference.

Seems simple to me, let them have full use of it in prefishing/scouting periods, mark any waypoints they want, then navigation only during live fishing. The part that sucks to watch is them throwing at the same fish over and over until it finally gets pissed off/annoyed enough to bite.

I was there while they were practicing. I didn’t even know they were gonna be there. I don’t have FFS on my boat, so I was just busting banks. I caught some fish, but no where near the amount those elites were catching. My biggest went 6-9, on a pop-r. I saw a few guys running banks, even let a few go around me and fish ahead of me, but for the most part they were all offshore.
I don’t like FFS, I think it’s ruining professional fishing, but I can’t blame those guys for using it. I found it to be a pretty damn hard place to fish without it. I ended up leaving and going to another lake that was better suited to my style of fishing. It was cool watching those guys and talking to a few of them though. I ended up staying at the same place as G-man and Bill Lowen, although I never saw either of them. They were in their campers when I got off the water, and I launched earlier than them so I wouldn’t be in their way.

Seems to me the bass have no where to hide anymore. If the trend continues seems like it would start to take a toll on a fishery. I am an older guy so perhaps its just time passing me by
