This seems like a reasonable Medicaid fix. Thoughts? Shift some recipients to ACA market

Why this is worth exploring:

1) decent cost savings
2) ACA plans are a lot better for low income workers than Medicaid.
3) it’s fair to expect workers to pay at least part of the premium/ded for their insurance, which is what the ACA plans do. Medicaid does not have premiums or ded.

The plan saves money and provides many Medicaid recipients with a better plan with more options. The one drawback is these workers would be paying part of the premium and ded

I'm down with anything to cut costs to entitlement programs. We're screwed if we don't solve that problem.

That, and all of the subsidies that will be given to anyone making less than 300% of the poverty line.

I don’t see how a person with the income to qualify for medicaid could afford to pay the deductible on most of the Odumbasscare (ACA) plans. That would require paying more subsidies to the insurance companies to lower or do away with the deductible for them. That would take a big chunk of the savings away. I don’t know if this is the solution or not but medicaid sucks arse for patients and the taxpayers so they need to do something.

1. Eliminate medicaid for medicare
2. Remove non-citizens
3. Individuals on unemployment are eligible for temporary medicare

This will never happen, though, because Medicaid runs the pharma research industry for the entire world, but the numbers should add up. Medicare is appropriate, Medicaid is grift

Take the millions of illegals off medicaid.

Sue states for fraudently claiming benefits, ie Cali to the tune of billions in a scheme designed by newsom and the insurance companies to false bill the fed govt. His arse should be in jail, this is a classic rico case.

Send many nursing home companies etc for fraudalent claims.

Thats probably couple 100 billion right there.

60% of people in nursing homes have spent all their assets on care and are now on medicaid. Its a huge part of the medicaid cost and not easily solved..

Toss the illegals out of the metaphorical airlock first then see where we need to target next.

The OP is about those earning twice the poverty line who are on Medicaid.

Having them have skin in the game can achieve serious savings

The obvious glaring issue is that when deadbeats fail to pay their premiums and their policies are cancelled or suspended emergency rooms are still legally required to treat them. Often for things that no reasonable person would call an emergency. Hospitals have to be reimbursed in some way or the deadbeats will bankrupt the system.
