The Eternaut (Argentinian Apocalyptic Alien Show on Netflix)

Anyone watch this? Based on a comic book from the 50s. We binged it last week and thought it was good. As with any show like this, there is some very questionable decision making by the characters at times, but its a solid watch. I would have rather watched it with Spanish audio and English subtitles, but I got over-ruled by the gf. The English overdubs aren't TOO bad though. We enjoyed it more than Last of Us.

I just finished the 3rd episode last weekend. I like it so far, but I'm a sucker for apocalyptic stuff.

How many episodes are there? I’d much prefer a movie to another tv show.

Netflix says there will be a second season.

2 eps in. Not too bad. A couple of gripes with some forced drama. Omar is such a colossal putz.
“Don’t touch this guy’s stuff.”
*Touches stuff almost immediately*.
FFS
Generally speaking most of those idiots who survived should already be dead.

I really enjoyed it.
My only gripe (SPOILER)
From the roof of the radio tower, the entire stadium is glowing blue...but then the light is just coming from a gazebo???

Yeah, I guess it’s not supposed to make sense.
But my God some of these people beyond moronic. It’s like Darwinism was thrown into reverse.
Or even worse, if these are the smart ones who survived,…
* I understand it, the show needs contrived drama. But there isn’t anyone who’s thinking this thing out even remotely seriously . Everyone is just overreacting and thoughtlessly reacting. Instead of doing the primary things first, they all go on wild goose chases just to satisfy their personal curiosities. This is why I hate shows like this.

Agreed. In a world like that you don't need to create extra drama from doing dumb shite, the danger of killer snow is bad enough (that scene with all the people on the train was a great attempt at showing possible real scenarios most people wouldn't think about).
I swear I think Netflix has only a half-dozen v/o actors for foreign films. Sometimes those voices give me flashbacks to playing Oblivion.

The premise though, that was a really cool idea. I would like to see it redone with a better writing team.

Greenland suffered from a similar derp writing style where people would suddenly change and do things counter to their own best interest simply because they got emotional or some such.
And here, the guy who owned the house said he wasn’t going to leave, suddenly changes after hearing the “HOA “ had plans to basically take over the neighborhood. Instead of telling his friends “why” he changed his mind he just said… Because. He never gave a full reason and there was no point in him not explaining. Whether his friends agreed with him or not, was irrelevant. They could’ve stayed or gone with him, but he just kept to himself. And Omar? Dude is literally there just for drama.
And for all that is holy, turn off those high beam flashlights, and shut the hell up! These idiots are about his covert as a bunch of kids at a sleepover.
I hope they do get eaten now.

Midway through episode five and I’m wondering how the hell they got here.
It’s not looking good.
Let’s just say if you drive a couple of miles down the road during Armageddon I guess it’s easier to forget the dead bodies everywhere if you happen to across a bunch of people having a tailgate party inside a Argentinian Costco .
Seriously, what the hell is even going on. They see this insane event going on and they turn their back and just pretend it’s not actually happening?

Finished it. Didn’t hate the end result, but I thought it was pretty clunky how they got there.
Six episodes per season, hope it doesn’t take two years to come out.
