Isn't the current system entirely about them making $5 toasters we can buy at Target and filling our dollar stores?

Seems he’s talking to China. Indirectly. It’s almost like he thinks they have spy’s within our country and on our social media.

He says it would benefit them and us if they would open their markets to American goods and services.
China doesn't want that because they need to sell their goods of lesser quality to itself to keep the whole house of cards afloat.
Is this that complicated?

How do tariffs open up their markets? Their markets are already open to us.

No they are not. Most products made in the US are not allowed there.

True free trade.

What does that look like? Zero tariffs?

This isn't about tariffs. He is posturing for trade negotiations.
In what world is opening a market of 1.4 billion people a bad thing for the US?
Some of you are either stupid or lack the ability to think logically.

Can the Chinese consumer afford US produced goods? We can send them ag products. I have at least one client that does. But do you think they’re looking to purchase a vehicle from here?

My bad mensa. All this time I thought tariffs were the primary tool for his trade negotiations.

Clearly referencing the fact that not all American businesses are allowed to operate in China

Does a construction worker only put a hammer on his tool belt?
Tariffs bring them to the table. Then negotiations happen. You must work for the government or a university.

I *think* he's saying:
1. China should open up their market to US products
2. It would be good for them
3. Closed markets don't work

Lots of people don’t understand that American goods manufactured in America cannot be sold in China
American companies have to build a factory in China, which the government owns 50% of and then those goods can be sold in China
And once you’re in, you can’t get out cause if you bail, they will continue to make your product exactly as you were making it and selling it with you getting nothing

I think he's trying to say that closed markets are bad unless it's us doing it.
