I stopped there on the way back home from Tallahassee for work and got some cool pictures, thought some of you might enjoy. Florida springs are one of the more underrated natural wonders in the U.S. IMO

Better visit before it is paved over.

Edit: the sad part is even if it is paved over, it will be surrounded by nothingness and look abandoned.

Kissingen Springs

It has happened before.

Looks like a good place to pick up a brain eating amoeba.

These aren't hot springs. They remain a cool 68 degrees year around. This is why they are so attractive to wildlife. So no, not a good place to pick up a brain eating amoeba.

Not sure what this means.

eta: I understand now. You don't want to see the manatees swimming in this spring.

Didn't see any. I saw quite a few big ones in Tallahassee though, including this monster at Piney Z lake.

Is this the place where they often do scuba diving certifications? If so, I have been there.

At least their springs are real. I have yet to find someone who knows the location of the Springs of Denham.

ETA: Apparently there are plans to restore the Springs in Denham

Apr 12, 2018 — A slimy, 3-foot hole in the ground, down in the woods, is how the city of Denham Springs began. It's actually an opening to a large underground aquifer.

The irony, started from a slimy hole....

quote:

The springs are located at Spring Park on N. River Road at Tabernacle St. The city is working to revitalize the park and provide easy access to the springs.

Usually Morrison or Vortex Springs. In that general area.

That's where I went to get certified in scuba about 25 years ago.

That’s probably vortex springs.

I have dived some of these, maybe Ponce and Defuniak, iirc. Shallow and not much, but kinda tranquil.
