A bill aimed at cracking down on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its practice of forced organ harvesting passed with overwhelming support on Wednesday – though one House lawmaker voted against it.

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., was the lone Republican to oppose the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act, which passed 406-1.

"It's just another example of us trying to stick our nose in another country's business and write their laws," Massie told Fox News Digital after the vote. "And at the end of the day, they're gonna do what they're gonna do, and it's just sort of a virtue signal over here."

Massie, a conservative libertarian, often votes against House bills that weigh in on another country's affairs.

It's a feel good waste of time. It's not like the bill actually does anything. I don't blame Massie for voting no.

I mean, this is all correct. Isn’t it?

What difference does him voting against this bill make? None. If he voted for it, does China stop harvesting organs?

Meanwhile, China buys our farmland, buys up our food companies, drills and mines our resources and steals our technology.

The "free trade" and "libertarian" notions work much better as a general guiding principle than a religion.

He voted no so that his quote about how stupid and waste of time the bill is would get published.

He's right. The bill is useless. We have no power to influence China in this way. It's not much different than an impotent UN resolution.

He’s definitely something of a grandstander.

But that doesn’t make him wrong on this one.

How are we gonna stop the Chinese government from harvesting organs?? Put higher tariffs? Impose trade embargos? We will never stop trading with China so the embargos will never happen, so Massie is right on this one. It amounts to fricking nothing, it is virtue signaling.

Massie would prefer we focus on American and pass some actual laws here.

There’s no way to enforce this dumb arse law.

He’s not wrong but to vote against it is dumb. It would’ve been better to abstain and say this is a waste of time.

Massie gets attention for doing nothing. He can't get votes by actually accomplishing anything for the American people, so he plays to the contrarians for support.

Democrats love that Massie votes no against every Trump bill.

This is the real problem, ppl blame Trump for not using Congress but Congress, especially our own team, can’t play ball together.

Well...no, actually, he isn't. The bill details how the exectuive can respond to such things.

quote:

The bill was introduced by Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., and would authorize the Secretary of State to deny U.S. passports and visitor visas to people involved in organ trafficking circles.

It would also call for sanctions on entities and individuals found to have participated in the gruesome illicit industry.
