The Rockets overachieved this season and have an exciting young nucleus. However, Jalen Green has been the focus of complaints all year and mostly dreadful against the Warriors. If they lose in 1st round…

Option 1: Chalk it up to a learning experience and keep the team mostly intact.
Option 2: Trade whomever it takes to land Giannis if able.
Option 3: Trade for Durant if the price is right.

My wildcard option is trade Green straight up for Amen’s twin Ausar. Sure the twins would need to work on their shooting but they are clearly high IQ talents and can both play anywhere from PG to SF. The Thompson Twins would be a fun experiment if surrounded by other good shooters.

I don’t think Giannis solves their issues which has been outside shooting. Him and Amen are too similar to work together, if anything I’d be looking for a new point guard and let your young roster continue to develop

I’ve read they have interest in KD, but I’m not sure that gets them over the top

The worst thing the Rockets can do is trade any for the young core and phx drafts pics. KD is a team cancer. This Rockets team is so young and dynamic they will keep getting better. Fans have to trust the process, this team could become like the young warriors.

Jalen Green is a streaky shooter, and he always will be. And unfortunately, his outside game opens up his drive, so if the shot isn't falling, it's single digits for him. I don't like pairing Giannis with Amen, and KD is too old. I think the Rockets need to explore Booker and Herro. They must absolutely keep Amen Thompson, Alperun Sengun, and Jabari Smith in my opinion. Everyone else could potentially go in trades. Jabari is so underrated at this point because he defends great, shoots well, and has absolutely no ego.

I didn’t watch much of regular season but local sports radio often complained about his tendency to take bad shots and that you never know what to expect from him. I’ve watched all of the playoff games and understand now. He actually admitted after Gm 1 that he wasn’t ready for the stage.

I definitely see argument of no major moves although there are guys like Whitmore and Shepherd that are ready for rotation minutes but too many guys in front of them.

All that being said, I think they are the better team and win series if Green plays up to 80% of ability in games 6/7.

I hate the “championship or bust” mentality. They are an exciting team that had a very respectable season. Not every team can win a title. Don’t blow it up.

I think I agree in this case. All year it felt like the Green criticism was overblown. Now I look at his playoffs and he’s averaging 9 PPG on 30% FG when you exclude game 3.

He was supposed to be the best player on team but maybe just make him a 6th man for now (next year) that plays heavy minutes if he’s starts well. Game 4 was maddening how he struggled just dribbling.

They would be dumb to do anything drastic. Sengun is still developing, he isnt ready to lead a team to a title yet. Look how old jokic was when he finally got over the hump in the playoffs.

Centers take a while to reach their peak, Sengun is 22. Amen is really young as well.

They could perhaps use a different point guard or maybe add a stretch 4, but not if they have to give up much. Tari Eason has also shown flashes and is only 23

No to Durant. He has become an anchor. I would take the Greek, though.

Sheppherd should eventually take Van Vleet’s spot, Cam is the wildcard, he could be unstoppable if he can get consistent, which can be said about all the young core.

The problem in game 3-4 was Jalen was getting doubled and no one else stepped up

I wouldn't do anything major, they remind me of the 2015 Astros.

The hardest part with this group is seeing where that go to scorer is coming from, which is why Green gets so much heat because he’s the guy who should be it. Booker is the guy I would love to get and I think I’d even include Jabari to get him. But I would rather bet on Green taking a leap or Thompson becoming a go to Giannis lite type player than blow the whole trove of assets on an older player

Giannis is a tough choice for me. He is incredible but I’m not sure how he will age once the athleticism drops off, the fit is a little clunky and I’m not sure they’re a true title contender with what you would be sending out

Time to blow it up, start over and stock up on draft picks. It was a good run.

EXACTLY!! Plus they have some much firepower with future picks.

Heck they could technically get the #1 overall pick this year.

Hell no to Durant. Getting Giannis by himself fixes nothing, you would need a few more moves to make that work. I would have a serious talk with Udoka, he is one of the 2-3 best coaches in the league and I would lean on him some. You HAVE to get shooting though in the offseason.

Jalen Green is a classic case of one of those scorers that will never win a title cause he demands the ball. Arenas, Beal, Stackhouse, Carmelo, etc.

I’d trade his arse for a more team suited player. But not for Durant, Durant is the same. He only won a title because of Steph and Klay.

They need a mid 20s team first baller and they’ll take the next step

It’s a message board phenomenon. I don’t know people in real life who think like this. People on the internet enjoy the offseason more than the product.

Pro fans have taken Rick Bobby’s dad to heart. Hell, most college fans have now too because of the 12 team playoff.
