If you don't have a Ninja Creami and you need protein and love ice cream you need one.

Some might question if this should be on the Food and Drink board but I bought mine specifically to make high protein ice creams. With Fairlife milk, your favorite protein powder, and a little bit of jello pudding mix you can turn your protein shake into ice cream. Protein shake flavors I didn't care for in shake form, I find not just palatable in ice cream form but down right amazing. Heck just tossing in your favorite ready made protein shake will make a great ice cream.

One example is Chike Protein Iced Coffee Powder. I bought it and didn't like the taste as it had a strong artificial whey aftertaste I don't like in many protein shakes. But 1.5 cups of Fairlife 2% Chocolate milk (20g protein) 1/2 cup of cold brew coffee 2tsp of sugar free chocolate pudding mix and two scoops of protein powder (20g) blended in a bullet blender frozen over night then processed into ice cream by the creami. I can't get enough of it.

There is something satisfying about eating the ice cold refreshing ice cream instead of chugging down a barely palatable protein shake. Its like the act of eating itself is more satiating then just chugging the shake. Fees like cheating. Lots of high protein ice cream recipes out there for it but after you get the hang of it you can start churning out your own ice cream recipes with whatever macros suit your needs..Turn your protein consumption into something that feels like cheating. This guys video does a good job at showing the base recipes on starting protein ice creams. The comments overwhelmingly support what I've said so far. Get one from Sams or Costco which will come with extra pint containers. 2 in the basic model just isn't enough.

Link below for good video showing the basic recipes.

Is it really this easy to clean? Some Jocko Molk Cookies and Cream ice cream would be the bomb.

The top contain the blade. If you rinse it off in warm water right after you process you pint it's that easy. I'll pull the gasket off hand clean it and throw the rest in the dishwasher every couple of days. Toss the empty pint in the dish washer. Not much to cleaning it.

People say how loud it is, but it's quieter than my ninja blender.

I was with you and agreed with everything you said until here. If it's louder than your blender, then your blender must sound like a damn freight train coming thru your house. Creami is a solid addition to kitchen gadgets, but it is loud as hell.

There is a thread somewhere around here with a bunch of high protein recipes and reviews.

I bought one based on that thread and barely use it.

I have the deluxe with bigger pints and use 1 cup Kroger vanilla Carbmaster Milk, 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, a scoop of whey, a serving of icheesecake instant pudding mix, and sucralose as a base. That is 225 cals, 38p, 12c, 3f. You can then add whatever flavorings you like. It is 10x better than any of the low cal ice creams sold in stores with way better macros and 1/4 of the price.

Agreed.

The creamie is so fricking loud. Easily the loudest thing in my kitchen.

My vanilla ice cream recipe ends up tasting just like the blue bell ice cream cups you eat with a spoon.

Whole pint:
Cal: 445
Protein: 48.5
Carb: 25
Fat: 15.9

1 egg yolk
300g whole milk
46.5g protein powder - I use gold standard from Costco
7g sugar free instant jello
2 tbsp sugar free maple syrup
?? Tbsp of vanilla - no calories so add to taste

Blend on lite ice cream and blend a 2nd time on mix in even if you don't have a mix in

I've had a Creami for over a year now. Average 2-3 pints a week when I'm craving something sweet. Most of my concoctions are ~200-300 calories and 30-40 protein. Crunchy mix ins for good texture take it to another level

Bought the deluxe from Costco and few weeks back and I think I've made ice cream every single night since then.

Been honing recipes for vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, banana, and mango pineapple. All with 20-40 grams protein and under 400 calories.

I love ice cream.

I have one & make "protein ice cream" quite frequently for the hubby & I.

It is LOUD but so what. Also, it's easy enough to clean but you must be careful to clean it thoroughly or you will get a sour milk smell. I hand wash it and use the dishwasher, whichever is easiest at the time.

The thing I don't get is how y'all use nasty-arse pudding mix!? I use jocko molk (vanilla, chocolate, or banana) with a little vanilla extract/powder and that's it. Sometimes I add a little fruit, peanut butter, or cocoa powder but not much. I also mix & match, for example: chocolate banana.

Is there a way to refresh the ice cream once it goes back in the freezer? I made 3 different ones and tried a little of each then put em back in the freezer overnight. They are like ice now.

I'd love for folks to share their recipes or links to in this thread. I made 3 from the OP's link and the greek yogurt base was my favorite'.

I used to put a little bit into vanilla shakes just to flavor them differently. A little bit of pistachio pudding mix in the shaker...

I haven't. I think he newer model lets you do a half blend instead of doing the whole thing. That may prevent the freezing. Really ruins the leftovers.

My favorite ice cream base:

1/2 cup cottage cheese
1.25 cups 2% fairlife milk
1 tbp pudding mix
scoop of protein powder

With the cheese, pudding mix, and 2% milk there is enough fat that once you re-freeze it it only take a few minutes of sitting on the counter to get soft enough to eat with a spoon. II blend everything in bullet blender to mix it up. It's my favorite base/recipe so far.

I use chocolate pudding and chocolate fairlife and chocolate protein mix for chocolate base. For vanilla I use vanilla pudding and protein powder, add a splash of vanilla extract, and your sweetener of choice. About 450 calories and 60 grams of carbs per pint. I'll mix in oreos with the vanilla and it's the bomb.

Vanilla - 220mL fat-free Fairlife milk, 220mL 2% Fairlife milk, about 5g of vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp xanthan gum, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use Gorilla Mind), +/- 40g artificial sweetener depending on what you use. Blend wet and dry ingredients seperately and then together. Makes 1 creami pint, I use ice cream setting for the texture but light ice cream is fine if you dont feel like respinning a couple of times. This is a great base for mix ins....thin oreos, Reeses cups, whatever

Chocolate - 1 small bottle (355 mL) of Promised Land Chocolate, 900mL 2% Chocolate Fairlife, 2 scoops Chocolate protein powder (Jocko Molk), 1tsp xanthan gum, artificial sweetener to taste...I usually toss a tablespoon or two in there. This makes 3 pints so you will need a big stand blender or use an immersion blender. I always mix in a few tablespoons of sugar free chocolate syrup when I creamify and I swear mine come out tasting like frosties...this is definitely worth the 10-20 calories.

Strawberry - 1 small bottle of Promised Land Strawberry, around 400mL of both fat free and 2% Fairlife milk, 400-500g cut fresh strawberries, sweetener to taste (I'm drawing a blank on how much I use but its not much, maybe a few tablespoons allulose), 1 tsp xanthan gum and 1 scoop vanilla protein powder but you could use 2. As always, mix wet and dry ingredients seperately and then together. Makes 3 pints

Mango Pineapple - so easy...2 plastic cups (comes in packs of four) of diced mango and 2 of diced pineapple, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1/2 tsp xanthan gum. Blend fruit with the juice together in stand blender then add in protein powder and xanthan gum. No sweeteners needed, trust me. Makes 1 pint.

I'll have to circle back to my banana recipe, it's at home and I can't recall off the top of my head. My advice on these and any recipes is blend them for at least a minute. I usually do 90 seconds to be sure so they dont separate and settle in the freezer.

Is that what the respin button does?

Maybe. But I just assumed the respin does whatever your last spin selection was. Would need to read the manual?

I only use the light ice cream and mix in buttons.

Respin doesn't spin as fast or as long as the other settings. They each have a different duration, speed (rpm), and speed (overall time and downward travel speed)

I made a yogurt base once. Because yogurt is so tangy, I try to make it as if it is a cheesecake flavored ice cream so:

Yogurt
Half & half
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
fruit of choice
Blend it all and freeze it overnight.

Sometimes I make recipes with coffee, half & half, & either vanilla or chocolate protein powder.

When you blend it in the creami, run it through as many times as it takes to make it creamy (& not crumbly). Usually 2-3 times. If you want it like soft serve, add a splash of water (1 tablespoon), and mix it (usually at least twice).
