The problem isn't Trump. It's the media. Because of the media's constant negative coverage and lies, Trump can't feasibly take any responsibility. He receives so much fake negative publicity, that it wouldn't make sense to give them an inch.
If Trump said that things didn't work as intended but he is working on fixing them, the media, democrats, and RINOs would all be calling for Trump to resign, be impeached, or to have his entire agenda stalled even more than they do now.
Based on the political climate, the lack of morals and ethics from his detractors, and their blind hatred of him, it would be retarded for Trump to be anything but obstinate in defense of his performance.
