Crazy, man. Lyn is a living legend!

You think he could do football? I don't know if the game of football is as amenable to Lyn's rhetorical style as baseball is.

I saw this and laughed pretty hard myself.

I will also say theradio call by Blair was bad. Like epic bad. I thought it was a lazy fly ball. I only know bc I was on my way home from the box. I know. I know.

Blair’s call

Just watched the video of his. Just awful compared to Lyn. He just has zero passion for LSU. I feel like he could call any school and it’s the same tone anywhere.

All these dudes wanted Hawthorne gone and now look what we are stuck with. No excitement or no passion on the calls whatsoever. I don’t ever bother even listening to the radio because he’s that boring to listen to.

I mean there are times he’s great/good but for that moment to happen and the fact Jared Jones hit the 2nd farthest ball ever in Alex Box, I’m surprised Blair’s call was ho hum, like a routine fly out the center fielder was camping under.

I hope for his sake he didn’t realize how hard it was hit or he blinked or something. It was 1:15AM.

Am I really the only one that can tell that he's completely losing his voice and having to overproject?

This has become a boring cliche on this board, and it's not even true. There are booth videos available and I recommend you watch some. The guy is plenty passionate about calling LSU sports, plus he's really salty when it comes to umpires, which I'm here for. His dry sense of humor and deadpan delivery during those moments are really entertaining.

They also had booth videos of Hawthorne, and while his voice would get loud, he's completely stone-faced in the booth.

You know...like professional broadcasters.

Frustrating that we can't celebrate one thing without putting down and hating on something else by comparison. But that's the rant I guess.

So do I.

Jim made a lot of mistakes in some things but I had listened to him so much that I think my mind was programmed to just filter things out. I knew what was happening on the field even when he messed up the details.

Hawthorne was fantastic. He put the obscure Vernon Parish village of Anacoco plainly on the map.
