I’m surprised Blair’s call was ho hum, like a routine fly out the center fielder was camping under.
If you listen to Blair, that's how he is in baseball. The call on Jones' home run was one of his better ones, and it was a no doubter. blair is almost monotone until the ball lands beyond the fence. A typical home run is like, "the 2-2 to jones, hit to left field, smith is back, and GONE FOR A TWO RUN BLAST" whereas with most baseball announcers, you get excited as soon as the ball leaves the bat. With Blair, the excitement is delayed.

Blair is NOT good at the big play/big moment calls. It just feels contrived and sounds off, but he's fine in just the routine play-by-play.
He's just kind of "meh"

Not convinced anyone really knows what this, or “forced,” mean.

Hawthorne would have been so pissed at the 9:50pm first pitch.

You think he could do football? I don't know if the game of football is as amenable to Lyn's rhetorical style as baseball is.
He used to do the LSU replays that they had on CST back before they shutdown. SEC network basically killed CST. His football calls were good but as you said. His style just fits perfect with Baseball. He has more time to describe stuff. I bet he would be awesome on a radio call.
