one would think that black people, who are the poorest cohort in America, would understand why it would anger a working class restaurant employee to not receive a tip.

Facts and studies will get you no where when this is being discussed.
FWIW, my buddy went to work for a period as a bartender at Fleming's. High end clientele (relatively speaking) and a higher than normal percentage of black customers. I asked if what people say is true or if it was Urban Myth. He said 100% true. I was shocked. Especially with a more affluent clientele.

I worked a long time in food service. The only worse tipping collective was the Sunday post church lunch goers.

Old whites are just as bad.
This site loves to shite on black people (because they don’t like black people), but there’s bad tippers in every race and class. Old whites, blacks, Asians, all have a large cohort of bad tippers

So it depends on the situation.
If I'm just picking up some ramen to go, I'm likely not tipping. In some cities places like that are counter service.
But if this is a sit down restaurant, with servers (and that's the impression I get when I looked them up), then you have to be a real a-hole to eat out and not tip. Better yet, if you can't afford to tip don't eat out.

The Bible Belt old whites are horrible. They complain about everything and then tip like 12%. It’s the same people that think giving $2 bills is some amazing feat. You can see them from a mile away
