Not sure if Dawgfan's given up, so starting this for Ep 3. Try and keep the game talk out of this thread

Just based on the first 3 episodes HBO should have released 2/week.

I mean it was going to be hard to follow up the previous given the content.

Alright episode. I’m glad they didn’t spend multiple episodes of them traveling to Seattle. But man, did their dumbasses bite off more than they can chew.

And I absolutely love Jeffrey Wright, so looking forward to seeing his role in all of this. There’s going to be a huge vacuum to fill with Joel gone, so I’m looking forward to seeing what’s going on between these Seattle groups.

Did I miss something...Why was Ellie in a hospital for 3 months?

I’m guessing between the cold/storm they were in and Manny kicking her pretty good, something between injury, exposure, and her cheese sliding off the cracker over witnessing Joel’s death.

I figured it was from the kick to the ribs but I could very well be wrong.

Just seemed a bit jarring. She was fine at the end of episode 2. She got kicked once by Manny lol

Alright episode

Literally nothing happened. She leaves with another chick because the council didn't agree, and there are people with weapons in Seattle.

End of episode.

There's only 7 episodes this season and they waste an entire episode with this nothingness? Wow.

They say they can’t fit the game into one season and have to split it up yet waste an entire hour for something that could’ve been done in 10 minutes at most

I hope they expand his part. He was so good in west world and pretty much every thing else hes ever been in.

Sounds like a certain bullshite episode in S1. That whole gay episode bothered me so much...less because of the content and moreso just because they wasted an entire episode of nothing just to show Joel and Ellie getting a truck. That could've been done in ten minutes as well.

I didn't get a chance to watch last night, so hopefully I can knock it out tonight or tomorrow.

Bumped the gamer thread so hopefully will slow that down in here.

Not reading yet because I only made it about 20 minutes before I had to fall asleep.

One thing confirmed in the first 20 minutes: I still really hate Ellie.

She's just a bad character this season

Was it just me or were they trying to glam Ellie up a little in this episode?

I don't agree with this. The story progressed. Time moved forward and they didn't waste episodes grieving over Joel or showing the city being rebuilt. Time jump and here we are.

I liked the town hall meeting. Thought it was just an interesting dynamic showing how the town is split and also how some in the town are indeed living in fear and want to pretend if they are "human" then others will return the favor in kind... and they won't.

Ellie, once again, letting her thirst for revenge overtake her sensibilities and thinking WLF is made up of a handful of people. Nope. It's a whole damn army with military equipment.

Every episode can't be a fast-paced, adrenaline filled banger. It looks like the next one will be though.

I do have a question abour her hospital stay. She was there for 3 months but none of the doctors noticed the infected bites on her body?

It wasn't an episode that focused solely on a side character's back story, so I disagree that it was the same as that episode in S1 (you mention that you haven't watched it, so you wouldn't know that obviously).

As far as the "nothing happened" folks, again, I feel like last episode was a hard episode to follow with that much action/MAJOR storyline progression. That said, things did happen in the episode to progress the storyline:

- We see the sentiment from the town on Joel's passing and the priority of going after the Seattle crew at the Town Hall. I appreciate the scene and the presentation of the logistics and moral issues with sending "16 of our best" to track down who killed Joel.

- We get Tommy washing Joel's body immediately after as well as Joel's gravesite later with Ellie and Dina to give some closure to what happened in the previous episode.

- We get the state that Ellie was in after she made it back to the compound and then her state of mind after 3 months in the hospital.

- Ellie and Dina literally travel from Montana to Seattle in one episode. That absolutely beats multiple episodes of them traveling.

- We get the revelation of warring factions around Seattle, as well as a full on aftermatch of a massacre of one of those groups, that I'm going to guess will play a big role in things that happen in Seattle.

The other piece of this is Ellie alone isn't going to be able to carry the rest of the storyline so we need other groups/people introduced. This episode sets up for that, with a glimpse at the stronghold of the WFL as well.

I believe it's covered up with that tattoo on her arm, and even if they saw it, it's an old scar anyway so they wouldn't think anything of it in terms of infection.
