Hultberg........
How good of a player was he for those who saw him in person?

heard he could shoot freebies like no one else

Decent ball handler but not quick or fast, nor was he able to drive and create. Streaky shooter at best; was too thin to play inside.

He was good enough to play. Pretty good shooter and hard player.

I was wondering this too. I always hear about how great of a shooter he was, but its usually callers into his show saying that.

I remember him as a streaky player, when he was hot, he was on fire but most of the time he was below average. Too small (height and weight) to really play forward and did not have the ball handling skills to play guard. One of those in betweens who are great in high school but have hard time fitting into the quicker, taller college game in a major conference.

Good spotup shooter, average ball handler ,played hard.

If there was a three point basket back then he would averaged in the high 20's. He could get hot and hit from both corners. But, as the above posters said - he was streaky.

he was more the 7 man on some pretty good teams. That may not sound too good, but his JR and SR year LSU spent most of both years in the top 10.

What a Stud.

nice stroke, i think steadier than "streaky".

Saw Jordy every year he played at LSU. He could do only one thing well - shoot long range bombs on streaks. His defense, ball handling( no right hand), rebounding were all inferior.

He was drafted by the Lakers the same year Magic came out, he chose to not try out for the team.

A shorter, better-looking Brian Beshera.

He was a New Orleans recruit for LSU. We've needed more of them.

Jordy had a nice outside shot, was streaky, hustled and could give you good effort defensively off the bench.
The teams he was on were the best in LSU history so he was behind some pretty good players. No knock on him, but they were STACKED.
Dale was a big proponent of Jordys, so he got a lot of pub.
Thankfully Jordy wasn't nearly as tanned then, so the glare from the court was less annoying then you might think.

Yeah, why people give Jordy a hard time I don't understand. He's a helluva nice guy, intelligent, an LSU alum, and an ambassador for the school. If he didn't tan, no one would say a cross word about him. I don't get what the problem is.

+1. I had the privelege of watching over half his collegiate games and more often than not he was a strong contributor offensively. Not that many tall guards back then and he could shoot over a lot of his defenders. Had NBA range and in the 3-point era would have made more of an impact. At least half of his field goals would have been beyond the arc now used in college IMHO.
