Moving to Louisiana (Northshore) - Help with golf

Hey everyone! Wife and I are moving to Madisonville from Dallas in a couple of months and I'm trying to get a gage of the golf in the area. With a baby on the way, proximity is definitely my highest priority. I've lurked on here and it seems like my two best (maybe only) options are Beau Chene CC and Tchefuncta CC. I reached out to both clubs and got their membership rates, with BCCC seeming like the best value having 2 courses and being more affordable. Would any of you be able to give some feedback on how busy these courses are? I'd love to be able to go out before sunset and play a quick 9 holes. Or be able to play on a weekend and finish in reasonable time. Thanks in advance.

Beau Chene would be your best bet. Not a fan of Tchefuncte (Old money Snobbery). Better games at BC and yes, Late evening rounds would benefit from 36 holes.

Pace of play Beau chene is great. I never play more than a 3.5 hour round
Very easy to get tee times. Course are in good shape for what we pay (I would say TCC is better shape)

Is Money Hill not a thing anymore?

Money Hill is great but it appears he wants something closer to Madisonville because time will be limited. The drive from Madisonville to Money Hill will be 35-45 mins one way.

Gotcha. Didn’t realize it was that far. Been living in Houston for too long apparently. 35 mins is a normal trip anywhere where I live. Ha

I live in Mandeville and I’m a member at Money Hill. It is about a 35 minute drive, but the course is head and shoulders above Beau Chene and Tchefuncta and it’s not even close. They are building a second 18 at Money Hill in the next few years.
Where ever you decide to play, I’d look into moving into that subdivision because having your own cart is huge at each course and really helps bring down the price, unless you’re a walker then it doesn’t matter.

No they aren’t

Did the plans get scrapped?

They’ve never had plans, only the thought. It is written into the by laws that once a certain threshold of members is met they will look at building another course but we aren’t close to that number.

I saw the plans and layout next to Greg’s office.

There is not plans at all. There’s a rough layout where the course MIGHT go one day.

been at BC for about 5 years now. live in there, so of course that matters.
if you can swing the upfront cost of getting a cart and housing it there (not sure if they're offering that but they added on to their storage garage for this i believe, and I'm not sure of the costs), but that reduces the number of $25 charges you get for each round with a cart. for me, since I'm on the course, it saves me $$, even if only doing the trail fee for 1/2 the year.
never played money hill but have heard its the best course in the area. they were running a promotional special for 2 years i think, but that may have passed.
played TCC once. thought it was very nice, but since BC has been upgrading their fairways and greens with a new guy, they are about what and what to me, so the cost and having 2 courses puts BC a tad ahead in my opinion.
as far as BC, having 2 courses is great. almost every Monday, both sides are closed. every Tuesday, 1 side open, other side maintenance. i can't think of any time that I've played there and the pace of place was slow due to crowded courses, or lack of tee times available. for the cost and access and availability, BC isn't a bad deal at all.

I’m thinking of moving to the area as well. Can you tell me what the costs were that you were quoted?

BCCC was about $1000 initiation, $365/month, $25 for cart/round
TCC was about $5000 initiation, $565/month, $25 for cart/round
Both of these are their under the age of 40 membership categories

Wait. Are you a YT personality that recently married a LSU grad and a student of Zach’s?
