We recently bought a historic home in Southern Italy (Monopoli). It's right next to Bari in the Puglia region. The city is well known for being a European vacation spot.

I offered up my Tulum Mexico house a while back and I think the admins deleted the thread, so maybe they'll do the same here. Not trying to make money from this. The Europeans will more than pay for all of our monthly expenses.

Our property is a historic home originally built in the early 1500s. It's four floors, four bedrooms, a thirty second walk to the most popular beach, and it has awesome views from the fourth floor.

Ton of bars, restaurants, and other cool stuff to do.

Maybe you should take the hint…. But you accomplished what you were trying to anyway so now it doesn’t matter

Shoot me an email. We're designing some stuff and fully decorating it, so I won't have the final pictures until Juneish. But it will be extremely nice. The previous owner designed it to be their forever home so everything they put in there is top of the line.

If you need a landmark, it's right next to the jungle bar in Monopoli: LINK

I know I shitpost a lot on here, but growing up my family never took vacations. We couldn't afford it. Now that I am fortunate enough to own some nice properties I figured I'd offer it up to some people on here at a deep discount of what we normally charge.

We have a TDer staying at our tulum property this summer and it's like 1/3rd of our normal rate on airbnb.

Buying was a breeze actually. We put down roughly 50% and financed the other 50% through a 20 year italian mortgage.

Place was pretty much move in ready when we bought it, but we wanted to add some custom stuff to it like some really nice tile accents, a wine bar at the entrance, wet bar on the rooftop, etc. We found a couple of families that specialize in remodeling high end properties and they have access to great workers.

There is a Google Earth streetview bubble on the property adjacent to yours.

Very cool!

Would love to know more about how you found your place and how you decided on the Apulia region and Monopoli. I've never explored that area of Italy, but it's very high on the list. It seems like it would be a bit less touristy.

Thanks

I bought with a buddy of mine. He travels all over the world and fell in love with Monopoli. We were looking to buy either in France, Spain, or Italy. Monopoli was his favorite city....it's quiet, beautiful, has a ton of history and stuff to do, and it's a lot cheaper than some of the bigger cities.

Southern Italy is great. It's a huge hot spot for European tourists, but not so much for American tourists.

Think we paid 500k euros and will have about another 50k into it for some remodeling and decorating. Same type of place in a bigger Italian city would be 4/5x the cost.
