I’m getting around 27 hand calculated.
If you drive 55 it will get almost 30
My truck came with the 2 inch lift and 18 inch wheels and tires .
My question to the bass has anyone tried downsizing any further like to a 16 inch wheel and tires.
I believe it would get 33 plus

I don't think 16" wheels would clear the brakes, they come with at least 17" wheels now even on the work trucks. Tire diameter matters way more than wheel size.

You may not be able to get 16' wheels, depending on brake rotor/caliper size.
But, maybe keep the same size tires and a less aggressive profile would get you better mpg. Also, I'd definately add a tonneau cover...

Are you trying ot hypermile a lifed 4x4 truck? I'm confused.

Why not try to have the best of both worlds. A lifted 4x4 that’s gets really good MPG…

That's a great average!! I have a 22 Ram with the ecodiesel with 22" wheels. Average 24-25 mixed driving. I debated going down to 20's or 18's recently but ultimately went with a less aggressive tire. Doing 75mph I'll get anywhere from 25-32mpg but that's in bursts; outside factors cause pretty big swings. Still does way better than my old hemi did!

Myth busters busted that one.

My 2023 came with 20" wheels and I'm getting 27mpg when going long distances and cruise set to 70.
I wouldnt want to downsize the wheels...
Gripe about the Chevy 1500 transmission: it has been at the dealership since the 19th for transmission valve body to be replaced. Nation wide back order on parts.
My friend has an identical truck and he had the same issue a year ago.

Look up the general tire that came factory on a pro4x titan. It weighs 27lbs less than the mickey thompsons I put on.
I'll be going with those as soon as I burn these down.

Mine is at the dealer for the same thing for the second time at 15,000 miles. First time was at 6200 miles.

Just wait til you start having issues with the timing chain.

If you're that concerned about MPG get a Corolla.

The size of the “wheels” have no bearing on mpg except that at some point they limit how far you can downsize your tires. 18” wheels should be fine. What you can downsize to improve mpg is the diameter of the tires and/or the weight and/or the aggressiveness of the tires. So you would need to find a lighter, less aggressive tire that fits on an 18” wheel.
For example, go from a 285/70/18 to a 265/70/18 in a less aggressive tread. You can look up weight of tires and compare. There can be large differences between tires even in the same size.
