If they didn't get a payday. This includes the recently departed Tennessee QB, Nico Iamaleava, according to Josh Pate.

Everything's fine boys. The sport has never been bigger or better than it is now. Nothing to see here.

"they should get paid for being in the EA Sports video games" they said
"schools make money so the players should get some" they said
"coaches can leave if they want so why can't the players" they said

Yeah the sport has never been better! Glad the extremely tiny minority of whiners that pounded their fists about the above have gotten their way.

And they do this because the system allows it and they’re rewarded for their behavior…so can’t really blame them

Eventually the adults in the room will have to do something instead of turning a blind eye to it as they push for bigger tv contracts, fan support will inevitably dry up

Oh, yeah. I 100% get that. The problem is there are no true leaders in positions capable of making competent decisions right now. That includes Congress, the NCAA, the conferences, and the university presidents.

The whole sport is being led by the blind at the moment. Meanwhile you have dumb asses like Nicole Auerbach and Ryan Clark telling us everything is good and this is how shite should be.

Well this is what happens when you refuse to create a structured means to pay players, stick your head in the ground and say "they're getting free scholarships!" even though the universities are generating millions, ADs and coaches are getting paid big and the television networks are raking it in.

They wanted to turn it into a multi-billion market but wanted to keep the same rules for the players.

You guys go greedy and now want to cry about it.

I hate it too but for every one of you idiots who were against the NCAA giving players a structured cut and saying they should be happy with just their scholarships... screw you.

We're all just laying in the bed of moron you made for us.

“The players just need some money to take a date to a movie and then McDonald’s” they said. Flash forward to players opting out because they only make $2.5 million.

Once Congress got involved everything went to complete crap. All those douchebags do is give, give, give (someone else’s money) and then Pat themselves on the back like they did something good.

Some say “you can’t put the genie back in the bottle.” I say, “why not?” Drastic limits are needed on NIL and the transfer portal. The sport isn’t sustainable at this pace. Put the genie back in the bottle!

The free market economy is still a regulated one. There are guardrails put in place so that no one abuses the system. Right now the system is pure anarchy. There needs to be structure.

I'm not advocating putting the genie back in the bottle and deny these players the ability to create value for themselves. I'm advocating for a structured system to regulate what is going on.

I don't care if you disagree with me or not, it makes no sense for a star player to hold his team hostage right before the playoffs for some extra cash. That should not be allowed.

This was a feature, not a bug. The whole aim of that loud minority was the destruction of college football. Of course, you had the legion of useful idiots like the posters on here with the sense of a goose who were thumping the tub in support of NIL/portal, too.

they received free tuition, books, housing, food, clothes, medical care, and a monetary stipend. They were getting very well compensated for being "amateur student athletes".

this couldn't be more irrelevant.

buddy do you think I'm a federal judge handing down these rulings? It's a bit strange how offensive you're getting over pointing out that paying 18 year olds unlimited money and allowing them to leave 9 months later is lunacy.

you need to sit this one out. In fact, you need to sit everyone of these out.

You're not smart.

NIL era CFB is anarcho-capitalism.

“Anarcho-capitalism is a political philosophy that advocates for a society without a centralized government, where all goods and services, including law and order, are provided through voluntary exchanges in a free market. It emphasizes private property rights and believes that private entities can effectively manage societal functions typically handled by the state.“

What we need is regulated capitalism with contracts and it would be sustainable.

What’s the solution?

Salary cap per conference?
One free transfer, then lose eligibility unless coach transfers?

IMO, the entire system is immoral.

Every other sport has a developmental league or a minor league option for players that don’t want to attend college.

The NFL has cheap skated their way through this entire process by being able to avoid this and the universities have made billions.

If a player doesn’t want to go to college, they shouldn’t have to. If they just want to play professionally, there should be other options.

CFB shouldn’t be the only way to achieve this. It’s not like this in basketball, baseball, golf, etc.
