Baws, I know this is far-fetched, but Rory has the most legitimate shot since Tiger (if not ever) to pull this off.

PGA at Quail- this is by far the least debatable one. He has won at Quail 4 times. He absolutely loves the place and torches it

US Open at Oakmont- almost required to hit it over 330 to win there. So long and you can cover lots of bunkers and trouble past 330. This one is prob where he is least likely. He didnt play great in 2016 but on paper the golf course sets up so well for his game

British at Portrush- back home in Northern Ireland- couldnt have a better stage set for a possible grand slam. He is such a momentum player and the whole country will be behind his back. Just to put the cherry on top he has the course record there-61.

I know this is incredibly far fetched and unlikely but now that the seal is broken and he is playing arguably the best golf of his career. This lineup of golf courses could not fit Rors any better.

He is the best player in golf right now. But it’s just so hard to do. My guess is he will win one more Major this year.

I agree on Quail Hollow. That course suits him well.

If he wins there and somehow gets another U.S. Open, it would be nearly automatic for him to win at Portrush.

He won't win the Grand Slam, but I'd take better than even money that he'll win another major this year. Quail and Oakmont are 5000% suited to him, and he will / should be heavy favorites at both; I know Portrush is at home, but that place isn't super well-suited to his game.

Winning majors is incredibly hard. Winning two in a year is damn-near-generational event.

Regarding Oakmont.

In the old days, it had tons of trees.

I think they cut down 10,000 trees.

Anyone winning 2 majors in a season is a long shot.

He’s got one, so he’s halfway there in 2025.

After a long drought.

Nah.

That takes robotic type of focus. He has a kid and a wife he already damn near got divorced from. Lot of things going on. Took shite for LIV. I didn’t even pay enough attention to why.

Also he limped to the finish. He was lucky only a guy (Rose) who was too far away went low.

I said this after the players. He is by far the best player in the world right now.

I agree with this. The demons have been lifted and now he no longer has the lingering thought, almost like he is finally free.

Quail Hollow he will be even money if not plus money. He owns that course.

Oakmont will be tougher but as compared to the field, I still don't see how he won't be the favorite given how tough that course can play. There are guys that hit it farther than him but lack the ability to hit moon balls with their irons, I still think Rory would be the favorite regardless of PGA outcome.

Portrush will be the homecoming but his game is so far removed from Irish golf. If he does win one or both PGA & US Open, you can damn well guarantee he will be there working on his game for the two or three weeks leading up.

Kind of wild that Rory's game to start was unreal, then the Nike / Taylormade switch created all sorts of inconsistency, personal life/LIV drama, to now his game being razor sharp.

Wildly unlikely that he wins the grand slam

He's not even the outright favorite at Quail Hollow (+550 with Scottie at +500) despite being so good there. It's still really hard to win major championships. He just went a decade without winning one, he probably won't rattle off 4 in a row.

The biggest thing working in his favor is Xander and Scottie still not being at their best after injuries early in the year. Bryson and Rahm also didn't really have their games at Augusta. Those 4 rounding into form and peaking at different majors would make it a lot harder.

Generational may be a but much

Since 1990, it's happened 10 times by 7 different golfers. Hell, it's happened 4 times since 2014.

2024: Xander
2018: Koepka
2015: Speith
2014: Rory
2008: Padraig
2006: Tiger
2005: Tiger
2000: Tiger
1998: Omera
1990: Faldo

It's definitely not something you see a ton of, but I wouldn't call it a generational event either

Man it's lists like these that just shows how dominate tiger was in his peak. We can argue over Jack or Tiger all day long but Jack never had a ten year stretch like Tiger had. I don't think we will ever see anything like it again.

I don't disagree but Jack did win 2 majors in the same year 5 times

1963
1966
1972
1975
1980

Tiger doing it 3 times in 6 years is bananas

Scheffler is still right there. Bad week and he finished Top4. But yes Rory is #1

You can make an argument for either as the goat and you wouldn't be wrong. I don't even attempt to rank them anymore. It's Jack/Tiger 1 and then everyone else.

Imo Jack was probably even more talented, he had basically every part of Tiger's game PLUS a more consistent driver. That's why he racked up so many top 5s in addition to his wins.

Tiger's edge is his mental game, the man was a cold-blooded assassin that found ways to win over & over. He just had the will to make things happen and somehow come out on top. Jack was elite here too but Tiger is the GOAT

Did you not just watch him struggle for 10 years to make history? You think that putting stroke would hold up if he was trying to complete a single season
Grand Slam? Something not even Tiger could do.

Last time the Open was in his backyard at Portrush he was so nervous he started the tournament with a smooth 8 on the first hole on his way to an 79 and a missed cut.
