I hate to put all the blame in one place rather than another, but the locker room probably is due to hear other voices rather than Cintron and Espada. Ultimately the players are the ones failing at the plate with RISP and on the mound in the late innings. However, the leadership does seem to still be playing the “look at the back of the baseball card” thing and assuming the players will automatically flip a switch and right the ship on their own without actually being managed or coached.

I've said this for a while. They're stiff, no life, no character. Meanwhile the Red Sox debuted a Wally home run celebration helmet this week. Other teams have shite like this.







I mean it's stupid. A team home run celebration isn't going to inherently make you a better team. But it shows a team having fun with each other, showing some personality, celebrating a team moment in this shared group way. The Astros don't do anything like that. It's business like, buttoned up. High five and on to the next batter. Hell there was word out of spring that they weren't even playing music in the clubhouse because nobody stepped up to be clubhouse DJ in Tuckers departure. That just came up again in the season. Still no clubhouse music because nobody's doing the job. That kind of goes back into the lack of creative team celebrations...there's no life, no spark of energy here.


Not like it was always this way. Remember the home run stare and the bobsled?
