For more resources for my special needs son. Does anyone have any recommendations/preferences of one location vs. the other?

Colorado Springs for the weather alone.

The politics in Colorado is getting crazy. They just passed a law where the state can take your kids away from you if you don’t affirm their gender identity.

No they didn't. It only pertains to custody disputes in a divorce.

Factually incorrect. I know you probably don’t care about facts, but it should still be pointed out that your statement is absolutely false.

I live in Colorado a lot of the year. Colorado Springs isn’t my favorite city, but it definitely has its upsides. I’d have zero interest in Phoenix.
Ignore the people who tell you that Colorado has a crazy political climate. I really don’t encounter as much as I do in other states.

I would consider both "extreme" to a certain disagree but both are extreme in different areas. Dealing with the snow is no joke so that may require changing the vehicles you drive to AWD for safety. It's a beautiful state with alot of activities I love but yeah, the people (leadership and citizens) in that state are weird and more smug about it than other places like Utah which has their own basket of weirdness but I like the people there better. While it may not be a factor that ultimately makes your decision it shouldn't be ignored. It's real.
If it was JUST the people it might be easier to overlook but the weather and higher cost of living might play a factor too.
Phoenix is hot, just no two ways about it but other than the heat is more moderate pretty much across the board.
I would think alot would largely depend on what type of activities you and the family enjoyed with a special needs son and what climate leaned itself more to that.

My bro-in-law is deaf and moved to Phoenix in high school because of the care community for the deaf. He lived there for almost 15 years before moving to Longmont, CO. He's much happier in Colorado.

As some one who lived in the high desert in California for a few years; that part of Arizona is too damn dry for me.

CO passed "crazy" and running full speed toward a socialist haven.
I lived in the Springs from mid-90's until last year and am in the process of selling my property there now to finish severing all my legal ties to the place.
But I wouldn't want PHX either - maybe if he could live in Prescott and go into PHX for whatever services he's needing? Otherwise, there have to be other options for him? Boise, suburban-SLC ?

Colorado is fantastic. I’d go there.

You can’t ignore it, however I’ll say you don’t encounter as much crazy as I do in Portland or Seattle.
If CO had a coastline I’d move. I already deal with crazy and higher prices. CO is less crazy but they certainly want to join the ranks one day.
Eta….CO has many more pretty people too.
