I know we need arms on the weekend. Just 5 pitchers isn’t sustainable. Schmidt has the best stuff on the staff. I think we need to keep him on the midweek like we did for Anderson last year. Maybe 1-2 innings on the weekends. Let him start 2-3 innings on mid week. That the approach they took with Kade and it turned out well. They didn’t really use him on weekends until late year/post season.

We do need guys to step up and just throw strikes.

They quit pitching Anderson in the midweek last year when SEC play started and he became a reliever and really struggled until the postseason.

isn't this how they are using him right now? What is your understanding of it?

Put more than "Schmidt" in your subject line. What about him?

Schmidt might not be in the top 5 stuff on this staff. Mayers has the best stuff if he could find the strike zone.

Kade has the best stuff he's got 3 pitches that are elite . Mayers has like 1 pitch that he can't locate they aren't even calling a secondary pitch because they know he can't locate it either

Didn’t say he was the best pitcher but he absolutely has the best stuff. He throws 99-100 mph with movement and has a good cb. He can’t control anything but his “stuff” is elite. Look at his stats he basically either walks you, hits you or strikes you out.

Definition of crafty. You know who else was crafty? That pitcher from the Braves in 80s-90s, name started with an M...(I am not saying Cowan is Maddox, btw)

So “stuff” doesn’t include control and actual pitching success.
Got it.

Maybe say potential stuff?

Change title to “Plan for Schmidt” to avoid anchor for ambiguous title.

Definition:
"Stuff" encompasses the physical attributes of a pitcher's pitches, including their speed, movement (break), and spin rate, all of which impact a batter's ability to hit the ball.

Stuff vs. Control/Command:
While "stuff" focuses on the inherent quality of the pitches, control and command refer to a pitcher's ability to consistently throw pitches to specific locations.

So to answer your question, no, stuff doesn’t include control and pitching success.

He only has two pitches and one I've never even seen him try to throw

Schmidt was known to have the best curveball of any prospect going into last year's draft. So it’s not an outlandish claim.

Cowan has an elite whiff rate on his changeup so he probably owns that claim in actuality right now.
