For 1, it’s not his personality. But even if it were, he can’t turn back now, he’s basically committed. There is no putting the genie back now. If he blinks with China, then all the soft arse euro trash countries will pile on. Making this world-wide means Trump is ready to die on this hill.

So what are the chicoms thinking? Do they think Trump will fold? Or do they think they can’t lose? Are they willing to bite it, just to make a point?

Depends on the cards and what's at stake..and amounts in the pot. Trump can't fold, that's for sure he's to take the hand to the conclusion. Trump cannot afford to be a chump.

Trump and the US hold all the cards. China will fold and find a way to make a deal that saves them from becoming another Japan.

China not only depends on shipping product to the US, but also shipping US company products manufactured in China across the globe. A pull out of US company manufacturing is far worse for China than loss of shipping products into US market.

They believe the deep state will drive public sentiment to the point that Trump has no choice but to back down... It is why Roger and numerous other Chinese shills are screaming to high heaven - they are being paid or they are heavily invested....

They think they can outlast Trump's 4yrs, flood the EU with their exports, and work with a weaker US alternative in 2028.

And what does Trump think China will do? He's just escalating everything further to a full on trade war.

I don't believe Trump went into this blind. All angles and scenarios were played out. Im not concerned with what China does, thats why I voted for Trump. Trusting him to deal with it.

So in no way possible can you imagine Trump may have made a mistake?

So far, China hasn't lost anything. The tariffs are all paid by the importers. In the long run, US companies will form supplier chains without China.

I'm curious to see how they deal with how much of their food and agricultural products come from the US. Definitely isn't #1 but it will be enough to hurt if every US food product gets that much more expensive. The Chinese know very well that they can't feed their country without imports and their people would starve pretty quickly if they had to feed themselves.

China’s next move is to make attempts at US congressmen that they have been paying for years to get them to vote against Trump. This will fail and expose the players

After dealing with Biden for 4 years? Yes, they thought they could intimidate the US

Maybe so but that doesn't happen overnight and in the meantime we'll all be paying higher prices.

Yeah well we might find out that the short term pain won't be so short.

This is a bigger deal for the leadership in China than here because if they ever lose control over those peasants, they're all going to die within a week and they know it. So they have to look like they're in charge at all times. This is going to be real nasty at the end.

Wait...

Oh, I'd go lightly on the laughing emojis there.

Trump has been playing the tariffs game out in his head for a long, long time. Negotiation is right in the middle of his wheelhouse. It's a very complicated game. But it's painfully foolish to think he's not a couple of moves ahead on this stuff.
