marked w/ flags but i don't really want to pay $300 to the irrigation company to swap them out when its a 5 minute job.

what are the best heads to replace them with? I think these are 6" heads and i watched a couple of YT videos that recommended the 42SA+ and showed a little clip of how to set them once you've swapped them out.

any thoughts? there are so many replacements out there that i want to make sure i'm getting the right thing.

there's a 4 pack of these on amazon for $40 which looks like it would fill the bill but i trust my H&G baws more!

Following.

I have a couple of those ones that permanently stick out of the ground that use to be a landscaped bed area that I switched over to yard/sod and need to replace with regular heads.

I've never really paid attention to brand or anything on the heads. I just grabbed the one that I thought would fit and went with it.

But before you replace, grab it the head and give it a twist to make sure that it's frozen. Sometime a little grit or something gets in them and you can break it loose.

Go to a professional irrigation store in your area and purchase the RainBird 5004plus rotor head. It is true pro grade and also has a check valve. Keeling and Ewing have it in La. They are around $12 each

Man I just went through this. Do you know what model you currently have? I bought the 42SA but realized the sprinkler models also come in different sizes where they hook into the water line and had to buy the smaller model.

no but the irrigation co. replaced one last year, charged me $67 for the head and $100 for labor and the description was "5000 6" rotor head".

i have 4 out this year and i'm not paying that kind of money for something that takes 5 minutes to swap.

Go to Ewing Outdoor Supply or SiteOne if near Baton Rouge. They will be able to help with the right ones, just make sure the inlet size is the same.

One of the main things to know before you order is if the fixture that connect to the hose are male or female.

Check the thread size but I’ve used them with little issue. I typically buy rain bird 5000’s off of amazon

I use these with no issue. 3/4 pipe thread connection vs the 1/2” on the smaller 32sa. I put some of them on spikes that have the 1/2” threads so I have to make up a little adapter. Note: they make a plastic adapter for this but it tends to snap.

i guess i'm going to have to dig up one to see what the threading is like.

good thing amazon accepts returns for 30 days while i sort this out but i hate to buy the wrong thing.

You and I are probably on the same level with home maintenance. Not a compliment to either , that said I took it on my shoulders last summer to fix a few irrigation issues, including replacing heads. Yes, you will need to dig a bit. I took the old ones out, and carried them to the store and made sure to replace with same model. Adjusting was a simple youtube video viewing and voila, I fixed something.
