About to start the trilogy. What is yall's opinion on the games

I beat it for the first time about 6 years ago. The graphics still hold up really well and the music is some of the best in the series. The battle system is also fun and satisfying. That being said, it is extremely linear and dosent have any towns to slow the pace down and relax in, which is a staple of FF. The story kinda sucks, and its probably got the weakest cast of characters in the entire series. I did think the ending was solid, though.
Glad i played it, but had no desire to play the 2 sequels. I heard they're not great.

13-2 is fun. I was extremely disappointed in 13. Hope can die in a fire. One of the worst video game characters of all time.

The FF13 trilogy is the worst of all the Final Fantasy mainline entries imo. Maybe you enjoy them, some people do. But they did absolutely nothing for me.

I really liked them a lot. If you liked FF 10, then you'll probably find some things to like in 13 as well.
I do think that the years are kinder to the series than it was at launch.

13 aged really well. Beautiful graphics still, and one of the best battle systems.

13 is my least favorite game in the series, although I probably didn't give it near as much of a chance as it deserved. I absolutely LOVED X, X-2, and XII, so I had really high hopes for this one and the characters, world, and gameplay all let me down.
Looking back now though, at least it's still a Final Fantasy game which is a lot more than I can say for 16...
One thing - give it a chance! The combat system starts out really boring but once it opens up it is actually the most interesting part of the game IMO.

Music is incredible, graphics were way ahead of its time and still look better than some JRPGs that come out today. Game has wayyyyy too many terms and lore, gets pretty overwhelming especially early on.

It’s a fun Final Fantasy. It is linear but that doesn’t make it a bad game. The story is okay. The character are just mostly okay. The world is beautiful. The combat is fun. The soundtrack ranks above most in the series.
Didn’t finish 13-2 but I was enjoying the shite out of what I played.

It’s one of my fave trilogy’s of all time tbh. You should play them on ps3 if you can, the 13-2 port is likely the worst AAA port ever made and I keep a ps3 around just for this.
13- it has an end game so to speak but it mostly plays literally like a movie. It definitely makes the most sense as a self contained story before shite goes off the rails immediately into the sequel rofl
13-2 you only get two party members but can catch monsters you fight to form teams of 3. 13-2 is the most pure fun FF game imo and has a top 5 EVER villain
13-3 (LR) on hard mode or hell even normal mode this is as close to FF can be to dark souls. Game also runs on a literal timer. You have 7 days to save the world but can be extended to 13, one in game day is like 90 min I think. You get various powers that can freeze time in statis and shite, you don’t level up but get stats and shite from quest, you can wear 3 outfits you shift between in combat at a time each with their own atb gauge and 4 skills and it’s all reall time combat with dodges parries etc. assuming you’ll be playing the steam version. Sad since the aerith outfit isn’t included only on ps3 . My advice legit as someone who never does this is do run 1 on easy. Lr ain’t no joke you can’t even play it on hard until you beat it once. Might have the hardest ever final FF boss especially if you weren’t diligent and unlocked all days and got all quest with the outfits you’ll need. Some outfits have moves hardbound, others can be slotted into open ones from battle drops. It’s extremely complex to get into here
Final quick word. Don’t lean on dlc. Cloud and others will get you by the first boss but not much further you’ll have to learn the game
