VAT would have to be in play as well for US to accept

Meanwhile European leaders like Emmanuel Macron are urging their citizens to boycott American goods.

Correct. Non negotiable.

What do we get for the $$$$$$$$ they already owe us?

If reciprocal means that we do to you what you do to us, then it’s in Europe’s control and always has been, and they can make that happen right now with tariffs and VAT. The whole point of this was to even the playing field so that we all play by the same rules, but also, don’t over regulate and place bans upon certain products to squeeze products out of your market because they may compete with your own.

I thought the goal was the return of American Manufacturing?

Certainly not good enough, this reads as its only one sector, industrial goods. Zero for zero must be for all goods, they say industrial because that is their weakest sector.
Also Trump is not going to deal with EU until they agree to give US based companies the VAT rate that EU members countries get. having a different VAT rate for non-members countries is basically a tariff even if some on here and in the public setting claim differently.

Rogerthecuckler do some math for us!

This would accomplish that
My industry for example gets a 25% tariff applied when shipping to Germany
But until Trumps new reciprocal tariffs last week, we had no similar tariffs on the same products being sent here from Germany

I also want to remind people that reciprocal doesn't have mean I do 10 you do 10.
Hypothetical situation

United States and Brazil
Imagine in 1935, the U.S. and Brazil sign a reciprocal trade agreement:
The United States agrees to lower tariffs on Brazilian coffee by 50%.
Brazil agrees to reduce tariffs on American machinery by 40%.
This kind of deal is “reciprocal” because each side gives and gets something.

The U.S. Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act of 1934 gave the president authority to negotiate such agreements without needing full congressional approval each time.
