... At least in this version of the NIL era.

Fla, Aub and Houston are all veteran-heavy teams of what feels like 23-25 yr Olds. Duke had the best freshman NBA prospect in years and still lost, and they are still loading up on 5* freshman next year.

Meanwhile Michigan is spending like drunken sailors getting 3 of the top 6 portal players, and that feels like the better stretegy now.

No matter what, the Cal-Kentucky and Duke-2015 5* factory type of championship teams feel like ancient history now.

Duke had seniors and juniors. They just sucked. See proctor, Tyrese. I think it boils down to recruiting the right kind of guards. You aren’t going to win with lip wristed guards who can’t drive. Scheyer was smart to get Sion James who is big and strong but he’s a role player. When your nominal point guard is some twink like Proctor you aren’t going to win.

Most of these 23-24 yo’s will be gone after the Covid nonsense… they should be losing eligibility this year

Auburn has a guy with a year of eligibility left that is turning 26 this year.

Twenty-six.

They were pretty close. How can that strategy be officially dead when it almost worked just 24 hours ago?

Duke 2015 - Okafor, tyus jones, Grayson Allen, Justise Winslow
Anthony Davis Uk team (2012?)

Both those teams did have reliable vets surrounding the freshmen stars however.
