what’s not important and buy America First. We live in a digital age there is a video on YouTube on how to repair most of what you own. It would be nice if companies started making parts again.

Won't lie, I'd really like a fridge built like they were in the 50s.

I understand where you’re coming from. I’m considering buying an El Camino from an old guy in my neighborhood for the same reason. Need a truck (sorta) for home maintenance stuff, but also want an old car to sport around in.

I agree. With YouTube and the internet to search for parts anywhere in the world, you can damn near fix anything instead of throwing it away. Hardest part is diagnosing what’s wrong.
You seen those videos of Indians fixing heavy machinery with basic machine tools? They repair crap we normally say can’t be repaired.

I want a new one built like that.
Meaning it rarely breaks and if it does you just throw a new motor in it.

My garage fridge is from the 80s. I don't think it's ever gonna break.

At the farm this weekend, perfect example.
40 year old John Deere dozer, hasn’t run in several years. Change filters, fuel, battery, couple cans of starting fluid… and it runs.
5 year old JD tractor, won’t crank, throwing codes, have to hire a nasa scientist to diagnose it.

That shite is nuts.
Blown piston? No big deal. We'll just melt these pistons down, cast a new one, and then machine it on this 90 year old lathe.

Why a new one? If you want a 50s one, just buy a used 50s one. Why does it have to be new? See? That’s the problem. It doesn’t.

Because one from the 50s will smell like the bait some dude has stored in it for the past 40 years.

Ever since Covid I prefer to spend a little more to get something that last longer and is repairable. I make more money than I did before and I am more selective on how and what I spend on. This has been coming for a long time.

Youre alone in this endeavor. These baws needed tariffs to make them buy domestic

Think about what got us to all the garbage shite that is basically our only choice in so many things today. How do we begin to turn the tide on it?

now a days when the battery goes dead, your pretty much stuck till replaced
back in the day, you could get a push start, using second gear, pop the clutch and you are on your way. lots of time I would park on a grade to let gravity do the pushing.
