Why is the bullpen control so bad?

After Cowan, Evans, and sometimes Benge, it mostly sucks.

It's beginning to look like he's JJ"s version of Paul's barbeque buddies.

It's crazy that Yeskie has so many career accomplishments and is widely regarded as an elite pitching coach yet this dumbass board insists he sucks.

He was widley considered one of the top pitching coaches in America before coming here.

He came here, and we led the country in strikeouts in year one.

In year 2, the back end of our bullpen, consisting of pretty much all inexperienced guys, is struggling.

Now he's a bbq buddy? Come on man lol

Many of these same people wanted to fire Wes Johnson in 2023. They were absolutely baffled when he got a head coaching job.

This is the same pattern he had at A&M. The walks go up significantly from year one to year two.

Bullpen pitchers are taking a shot for every run we score, so it’s really the offense’s fault.

For it to be the same pattern, then walks would have to be significantly up this year.

you think turning over 90% of our staff has anything to do with that?

There is only so much a coach can do. At some point, the players head to apply what he’s learned and translate it to performance. The players need to learn to throw strikes, period.

Not when that 90% of staff that left sucked at throwing strikes as well.

But I’m not one to blame this fully on Yeskie. It’s the pitchers responsibility to place the ball where it needs to be and half of them just can’t do it right now. Yeskie can’t control that.

We recruit pitchers based on velo. Not all of those guys can locate their pitches.

There are several factors but also expectations are off the charts. We have young arms and there is plenty of good outings to look at, but yes the rest of the bullpen has struggled with command one point or another. Better to struggle now as opposed to late in the season.

I said when Aiden Moffett transferred he was going to factor in to the bullpen this year so it was a bigger loss than some expected. He has a lot of potential and could have worked in well in short outings to help stop the bleeding. But he isn’t being used at Texas so it’s impossible to predict how people would translate when the season and competition start. Same can be said for some of our transfer portal bullpen arms. They have potential but it hasn’t exactly translated to consistent performances.

Not useful to make it black and white as to who is to blame. Yeskie and the players are one and the same to me. They either succeed or fail together.
