These law professors will dream up anything. It's a consequence of needing to get published in order to keep your job.
When you are elected Vice President, you are not elected to the position to stay VP. You are elected there as the contingency for President. The idea that Trump can run as VP and then the POTUS resigns and puts him back in charge is pretty ridiculous. The 12th Amendment solidifies this stance. If this had any juice, we'd have Obama still in the WH.
