Usually, the Truth Shall Set You Free...That Won't Apply to Signal Debacle

In a world where everyone wants instant gratification and lacks the patience needed to sort through complex schemes, the Signal issue has been frustrating.

Have no fear. The finest software engineers in the world are working on untangling how this happened and those responsible will be held accountable.

I expect Mike Waltz to be fired. I expect others to be prosecuted for espionage. I expect the Democrats will attempt to blame Trump for making a poor choice for his National Security Director but were hoping for more impeachment material.

Somebody paid for this to be done. It wasn't done for purely ideological reasons. There is no Snowden hiding in the woodpile. There is a reason Trump doesn't participate in those types of calls. He's been burned before.

So, be patient. The truth will come out and somebody will go to jail.

MAGA wasn't thrilled about the Walz pick and view him as a RINO plant.

If this is MAGA picking him off then MAGA ain't playing around.

Completely agree with this.

Since when has Trump or the GOP ever held anyone accountable?

Why not do a mea culpa, say there will be new processes in place. Say you are ditching the Signal App then shut up about it and let the other side talk until they are blue in the face about it and move on....act like it's over and move on?

That would be the smart thing to do.

I'd imagine as part of his investigation into this, Elon and his geniuses are creating an encrypted messaging app that no one can break

How about when discussing this sort of thing stop being like teenaged girls and texting your plans for the prom and do it in a SCIF like it should be?

I agree with your statement 100%.

Although, patience is a rare commodity here in the PT!

I know, right? It's not like Waltz has an off-book email server in the linen closet of the bathroom at his private residence.

It's definitely not like he had boxes of classified materials unsecured in a file box in the garage next to the Corvette.

What a douche.

How are the plans then communicated to be put into action?
What do you do when it's a time sensitive issue & everyone can't meet up in the same room?

I'm not asking these as gotchas, I genuinely want to learn more & think it would help make the discussion more nuanced instead of "my side good other side bad"

thats all fine and dandy, but wasn't the problem here that Mike Waltz added the reporter to the chat? It wasn't a hack, was it? He fricking added him to the chat!! The dude needs to be fired and perp walked out the door if so.

The operative part of this will come in the form of determining how it happened.

If it was an intentional plant, RICO laws would apply and we could even see Goldberg being hauled away as a willing participant.

I wouldn't bet against Musk and his team. I would love to watch the Democrats eat their own rat poison on this one.

Since I’ve never used or ever saw the Signal app it sounded like the attendees are added to the chat using the phone’s general contact list.

That there is a major weakness. To be secure these apps should have their own limited secure contact list.

This was a rookie move.

Walz admitted to adding the reporter, didn't he? I know he tried to claim that he didn't know who the contact he entered into his own phone is, but he didn't deny adding the reporter.
