Speaking to ANI, Bartoszewski stated that Putin had “threatened” to use tactical nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory, but calls from India and China influenced his decision to reconsider.

“President Putin was threatening to use tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine. The Americans sent lots of messages for him to not think about it... That didn't necessarily persuade him at first. He received two phone calls- one from the President of China, Xi Jinping, and one from PM Modi, telling him that neither China nor India independently approve of the war. When two major nations which Russia consider to be friendly said don't do it. He decided that it is not a good idea so PM Narendra Modi played a role in it,” Bartoszewski said.

Let the missiles fly and the tidal waves and asteroids strike. We’ve had a semi decent run. Godspeed friends.

Nothing in that article shows China or India held any more sway than the US did in Putin's final decision. Nowhere does it say he had agreed and approved the use of those weapons but someone changed his mind.

I always questioned who exactly was going to jump in with Russia in WWIII just because.

China probably said, "Hey Asshoe, don't set off nuke in back yard!"

Im not really concerned with Russia, China etc launching nukes. They know the end result would be global destruction.
I am concerned with the Muslim countries getting the bomb. If Iran had one they would use it on Israel the next day. They arent concerned about Mutually Assured Destruction.

I know the poliboard has more savvy folks on these kinds of issues, but just as a reminder, while there are tiny weapons in various arsenals, even the lowest yield are in the 75 to 100 tons of TNT equivalent, but it is far more likely they are talking about warheads in the range of 10 to 20kt (the general range of Little Boy and Fat Man) up to about 50kt (2.5 times those first bombs).
"Tactical" is no walk in the park and has all sorts of escalation potential, residual effects. I mean, what if it triggers alarms and results in even a limited exchange of strategic weapons? That would be a cataclysm our great- grandchildren will still be dealing with 100 years from now.

Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't find a timeline for when they were threatening to use nukes. Was it recently or when Biden was in?

Yeah, because Putin goes to India for their advice and consent

I'd like to think they do care since the ones at the top are not quite that religious as they pump their followers up to be. For the ayatollahs, religion is more a means of power than anything else.
Now if someone like Osama bin Laden had gotten one, you can bet your arse he would have used it.
