When asked why he was uniquely qualified for this job he asked them if they ever heard of the Show-Me State.

I am really happy with this hire. The guy can flat out coach. I would have taken Devries as well but am actually glad we got McCollum the longer this went on.

Would have been happy with either, but feel McCollum will be a better fit. He seems to be able to find diamonds in the rough and seems to be able to do more with less which will be required at Iowa.

It’s hard to do more with less when your competition does more with more

If Kirk Ferentz was a basketball coach.

How long before Iowa fans get tired of 53-49 basketball games?

Success for Iowa isn't winning the B10. This is a great hire for the objective.

Hell of a hire of IOWA.

Unrelated but sounds like Minny hiring the Colo St HC, Mike Medved. 2 solid coaches going into B10.

He hit lightning in a bottle with the transfers at Drake this year. My guess is he is fired within 4 years.

Just had his presser. It's a great day to be a Hawkeye. I really love this hire. 2 weeks ago... I was all in on Devries, that has changed. I think we got the better coach.

You got a good one but not the best overall because he can't recruit like Devries. Hard to find athletes that want to play in the slowest pace offense in the country.

Stirtz is better than any player Devries has recruited...

Wasn't he a transfer? Devries got Javon Small as a transfer and was big 12 runner up player of the year.

He transferred to Drake from NW Missouri State which is where he was recruited to by McCollum. No one offered him a scholly. He is following him to Iowa he said out of loyalty. Both are good coaches, I would take either one. To bad Devries and his son practically quit on WV before the season was over.
