Anybody notice the mental health declination amongst GenXers and millennials lately?

I've noticed a bunch of friends, family, co-workers etc... all seem to be either battling depression, breakups, & toxic behaviors from themselves or loved ones. I don't know what's going on but everyone seems so sad lately.

Going to a therapist to tell you are sad.
Trust the experts.

Mental illness is a real thing. But we’ve also become a soft society that doesn’t believe in individual accountability.

People have always dealt with this but they hid it from others. I think it’s healthier to be open about it. Keeping everything in and then one day blasting yourself with a shotgun is not optimal.

That's possible but there were tale signs from people that tried to hide it. It seems rampant now. I'm not trying to play the role of conspiracy theories but sometimes I wonder if it's what we're consuming food drink or otherwise.

Yeah, people are fricking bat shite. Besides a small circle, I avoid humans at all cost.

Hopefully you’re hearing about it because the stigma of seeking mental health treatment is becoming less and less present
Even very healthy and happy people could do for a check-in. Like getting a mental oil change

Information overload from social media. Everyone would be happier if the Internet was never invented.

lack of physical work. we were not meant to look at screens all day.

Also, we are only 4 years removed from shutting the planet down for 2 years.
Society is going to the feel the fall out from that for the next 50 years.

I've noticed a sharp decline in mental toughness.

There is a lot of hysteria out there lately but I don't think the boomers are excluded from this

You shouldn’t have tried to sound smart here

In my experience, you hit times where you encounter a lot of X or Y - our brains are wired to pick up and notice patterns and the patterns stick out to us, especially if they are negative. Probably nothing to worry about.

Biggest issue is that talking about things and being able to face problems is very frowned upon.
Think about at work. If you wanted to have a sit down meeting with a coworker to get frustrations out and come to a middle ground, gets you in trouble. You can’t have heated meetings. It would fix things but being straight forward is very bad in the work place.
Same with friends now days and even family. It’s the older crew that’s ok with that stuff. Anyone 30 and under don’t have a clue about having real conversations or talking about feelings

Improvise, adapt, overcome. Easy for most, for others, not so much.
