A triplet of monster Big 10 matchups at 133, 141 and 165. Ayala has to be out for revenge after getting stuck in the Big 10 champs by Byrd.

Starocci going for a 5th title, which would obviously be a record but Keckeisen may make it tough on him.

Steveson should be the clear favorite but Hendrickson has been wrestling like an animal under David Taylor.

If I had to be a biggest favorite, I think it would be Taylor. His defense against Shapiro was insane,

And yes, the plan is for Trump to be there with Jim Jordan.

quote:

125lbs: (4) Vincent Robinson (NC State) vs. (7) Troy Spratley (Oklahoma State)
133lbs: (1) Lucas Byrd (Illinois) vs. (2) Drake Ayala (Iowa)
141lbs: (1) Brock Hardy (Nebraska) vs. (3) Jesse Mendez (Ohio State)
149lbs: (1) Caleb Henson (Virginia Tech) vs. (2) Ridge Lovett (Nebraska)
157lbs: (8) Joey Blaze (Purdue) vs. (3) Antrell Taylor (Nebraska)
165lbs: (1) Mitchell Mesenbrink (Penn State) vs. (3) Mike Caliendo (Iowa)
174lbs: (1) Keegan O'Toole (Missouri) vs. (3) Dean Hamiti (Oklahoma State)
184lbs: (1) Carter Starocci (Penn State) vs. (2) Parker Keckeisen (Northern Iowa)
197lbs: (4) Josh Barr (Penn State) vs. (2) Stephen Buchanan (Iowa)
285lbs: (1) Gable Steveson (Minnesota) vs. (2) Wyatt Hendrickson (Oklahoma State)

Not a huge fan of making sporting events political, but wrestling is a good thing for the president to support.

I would think Steveson is the biggest favorite. He made his semi-final look incredibly easy.

Had no idea Starocci was going for a 5th title. Didn't know that was possible.

He was but it didn't work out for whatever reason so the WWE let him go a year ago.

Then he tried out for the Bills even though he'd never played football before and got cut in preseason.

So he's back wrestling for a final year. He's probably got the biggest NIL deal in the sport but I doubt it compares with WWE or NFL money.

Covid year.

I’ll definitely be watching. At one time, I never thought Dan Gable’s 15 NCAA Championships would ever be eclipsed. Cael Sanderson is gonna win his 12th NC tonight and only a matter of time before he’s crowned the greatest wrestling coach of all time.

We didn't have wrestling in HS but over the last few years I've gone from vaguely familiar to damn near addicted lol.

I started wrestling in the 6th grade and won a State championship at 185 lbs. Had multiple scholarships to wrestle in college but decided to attend LSU and party like John Belushi. At times I think “what could have been ?” Wouldn’t change my decisions since I’m alive and have been sober for 37 years.

I watch wrestling every weekend. The B1G and Big 12 Champiionships a few weeks ago were great.

I'm most looking forward to the Hamiti vs O'Toole and Caliendo vs Messebrink. Both rematches from a few weeks ago and both were excellent matchups.

He also eclipsed Dan by going undefeated in his collegiate career. Carl is probably the GOAT when it comes to US wrestling.

I wrestled in hs in Missouri back in the day. Didn't go further because was inbetween 189 and hwt. Those were the weights back in the late 80s very early 90s in Missouri.

A guy I was buddies with, Dale Blubaugh, used to wrestled for the Army team and his dad won Olympic gold back in the day in 1960.

My wife's uncle is friends with a star Iowa wrestler from the team when the Brands brothers wrestled. I've been pheasant hunting with then in South Dakota, damn the stories I've heard. If there was internet smack in the day, shite would have hit the fan.

You seem pretty in the know. I don't know about NIL these days but when I was in school if you were a paid "professional" like the WWE type thing, then you couldn't go back.

I know NIL is basically professional pay level but I didn't know they had officially changed their standards on "amateur" status

LSU had a wrestling program when I was in high school but axed it because of Title 9 before I graduated.

I don't know that much about it but his NIL was actually through the WWE so I guess it was OK because wrasslin isn't considered a sport.

Gable fricking Steveson being back in college wrestling is both hilarious and dumb. Like sure, get the money, get back into shape for the next Olympics or the career in being punched in the face if he goes MMA, but it feels like he's picking on children to be wrestling college kids at this point. Like he has eligiblity, he isn't outlandishly overaged for college wrestling but...

He was the best wrestler in the world*. In the world. In 2022. Got a gold medal.

*not doing pound for pound, in 2022 it was Sadulaev for sure. But if you put Sadulaev and Steveson on a mat in 2022, Gable's almost certainly winning.

If the Oklahoma State kid beat him, it would be one of the biggest upsets of all time.

Penn State for the 14th time in the last 16 years. They are duplicating what Iowa wrestling did in the 80’s and 90’s

Biggest favorite is Gable easy.
I’m liking the variety of schools this year, only 3 Penn st wrestlers.
Looking forward to 149 to see if if anyone chooses bottom.
Blaze from Purdue has really impressed me with his scrambles - only a SO and could be a future superstar. His brother is the #1 recruit in the country who finished 3rd at last years Olympic trials. Iron sharpens iron

Penn St wins another team championship and water is wet.

It's just incredible the Juggernaut Cael Sanderson turned that program into.

Starcocci should win (should be his fourth right?)

Stevenson should win too. Nice to see David Taylor elevate Okie St in just one season as the head coach.

Not a fan of the stalling penalty in wrestling. It should be called as soon as you back out. They wait too long.
