When did your Parent(s) inform you to get out of the house?

When I graduated high school and missed arena registration at the local college.

18 years old.

Did it make me a better person?
Not sure but I own that old house and lots now…

They didn't have to. I grew up, got a job, got married and moved into my own house.

What was it like living on the street at 18?

Never, they expected that we knew when we needed to leave and become adults.

Never told me to get of the house. I graduated from LSU and got my first real job and my Dad called me to come get the rest of my shite out his house.

I joined the USMC. The streets might have been the safer option…

They started informing me around 15 with the "If you aren't working full time or in college, you can't stay here."

I was already to leave long before I turned 18.

No need. Every kid was itching to get out ASAP. It was normal in those days.

I went straight to UGA after high school and only spent about 6 months after graduation moving back in with them while I job searched.

My HS graduation present was luggage. Literally. Not even a joke.

ETA- I didn't sit around. I worked low level restaurant jobs the whole time while also job searching something white collar. I wasn't sleeping til noon and having mommy make me sandwiches when I was hungry. The very first opportunity I had to get out, I did. Not because my family was bad, but it was embarrassing and hard to get dates when you live with Mommy. Girls at the time raised red flags on that circumstance.

Never, because I had good parents. They weren't POS enough to give me the boot on my 18th birthday and I wasn't a POS who deserved getting kicked out. Only lived at home during school breaks after 18 and moved out fully at 22.

Technically I am in the basement, not the house

They didn't have to. I always assumed I should make my own way as soon as I was " a man".

They were cool with me sticking around for college, but I was the one ready to leave so I can smoke the bong in my living room. Got an apartment after 1 semester in college.

The good ole days.

Actually my parents wanted me to stay with them during college. It’s a cultural thing.

My parents live where it’s cold. I turned 18 and ran away from winter.

Never. My family moved to TX for my dad’s job when I was a freshman at LSU. Never lived with the fam again or even in the same city.

I had a helicopter mom, so I couldn't wait to high tail it to college. To her credit, once I was out of the house, she knew that chapter was over and it was my life now.
