Were they actually abandoned by Biden or is Benny making sh*t up?

Serious question, I know nothing about this. I'd read that they stayed long past what was planned to make sure the station wasn't under staffed.

Sadly too late for the lady. Biden depleted her of bone density. Will she even be able to stand on earth?

It is a crying damn shame the MSM is not and has not covered this daily for the last 8 months. The fact now that a private company had to send its own equipment up to get our stranded Americans back to Earth is mind boggling in and of itself.

The Biden admin didn't want SpaceX to go get them when Musk started working with Trump.

I'm going to let grok answer this question to try and keep this on the OT because it shouldn't be political. I think we all want to see these astronauts come home safely.

quote:

There’s no definitive evidence that the Biden administration "abandoned" astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS). The situation involves NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who launched to the ISS in June 2024 aboard Boeing’s Starliner for a planned eight-day test mission. Due to technical issues with the Starliner—helium leaks and thruster malfunctions—NASA deemed it unsafe for their return, extending their stay to over eight months. They are now scheduled to return in late March 2025 via a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, a plan NASA arranged in August 2024 under Biden’s administration.

Claims of abandonment stem from political rhetoric, notably from President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Trump has said he asked Musk to "go get" the astronauts, implying Biden left them stranded. Musk has claimed SpaceX could have retrieved them earlier but was blocked by Biden for political reasons, such as avoiding positive optics for SpaceX before the 2024 election. However, no concrete evidence supports this—NASA has maintained the delay was technical, not political, prioritizing safety and crew rotation logistics. Former NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and other officials have denied political interference, emphasizing that a SpaceX return was already in motion.

The astronauts themselves have rejected the "abandoned" label. Wilmore told CNN in February 2025, "We don’t feel abandoned, we don’t feel stuck, we don’t feel stranded," noting they were prepared for contingencies. Williams echoed this, framing their extended stay as part of their mission. Posts on X and some media amplify the abandonment narrative, but these lack substantiation beyond speculation. NASA’s timeline, set before Trump’s January 2025 inauguration, aligns with the current late-March return, suggesting continuity rather than a sudden rescue prompted by new leadership.

In short, the prolonged stay resulted from spacecraft issues and NASA’s cautious approach, not a deliberate abandonment by Biden. Political motives remain unproven assertions rather than established fact.

MSM seems to care more about the criminals that were sent to El Salvador.

A little bit of both. They could’ve come home earlier but the decision was made to keep them up there keep 2 other astronauts for the last mission up. Part politics and part convenience really. I don’t put much blame on Biden on this other than just not sending up a dedicated SpaceX dragon for the 2 stuck people and instead making them wait for the next ride.

Christ on a cracker! This is the dumbest shite I’ve read. She preformed at least two spacewalks on this mission.

Serious question - Are they still heavy on Tang up there, or is that an antiquated reference?

Yes, and the vehicle they will come home in has been attached to the station for eight months. To come home early would leave the ISS short staffed. The astronauts that got screwed here were the two women assigned to Crew 9 that got booted at the last minute.

Fun fact. The astronauts on the ISS drink their communal recycled urine. Look it up.

Musk said on Rogan Biden admin pushed the rescue past inauguration day because they didn't want a "win" for Trump and Musk until after the election.

The astronauts said on live TV they believe Musk so.....

If you knew anything about science you would be very concerned for her. You don't need bone density to "space walk" (which is a dumb name, it's just floating).
