Worst Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge

We all have our favorites. What are the most disappointing?
I know I'm unpopular here with this choice:
Zippy's.
Velveta cheese is not queso. Margaritas were watered down and overly sweet. How is this place still open when so many other choices exist is beyond me. I guess its all about the location.

Who goes to a Mexican joint call this?

You're better off asking which is the best because they're all pretty mediocre.

What are the most disappointing?
Most disappointing: Superior. Outside of the Margs, the food is average and expensive for what you get.
Worst: I don’t like Mi Padres

don't really see that much anywhere but south Louisiana has always been limited in the Mexican food area

I never considered Zippy's as a Mexican joint.

Superior is too loud and it’s full of stuck up idiots

Is Ninfa's still around?

I stayed at the Holiday Inn right off the freeway a while back. Whichever Mexican restaurant is down the street from it on sort of that service road was absolutely horrible.
I’ve lived in Texas for several years tho so I’m a bit spoiled.

In Gonzales, there’s El Mezcal on Airline. It’s tiny and looks trashy but it’s delicious. It’s so Mexican that they barely get your order right due to the language barrier but it’s delicious. Highly recommend it.

I know this is off topic and also heresy in Houston but it does give a certain context to this thread..............
This is exactly how I feel about Lupes.

Best Mexican restaurant in BR hands down. Those handmade tortillas are next level and the margaritas are good. Crowd is never overly obnoxious.

Yes, they have one on Sherwood/Old Hammond in the same plaza as Harbor Freight. Great selection on all things you can't find in Rouses/Albertson's.
