Yoder Smoker

I am building my outdoor grilling area and for the first time, I'm going to have a smoker.

Will have the smoker on the left side, stainless steel drawers in middle, and an Stainless Steel Santa Maria Grill on the right side.

I've read many reviews and the negative reviews for Traeger spooked me. Plus I needed something that could sit on a counter top or "built in model".

Never heard of this brand of smoker until recently after doing tons of research on the web.

I'm too poor to have any experience with them but from what I've read and seen on youtube they are top tier.

From what I heard, Yoder is top tier.

I never had a problem with my Traeger other than it catching fire... Happens to every pellet smoker. I also blame it on me not cleaning it as I probably should have been.

Bought a new smoker last year. Had been smoking on a BGE for many years.

If I had unlimited time on my hands I’d have a Mill Scale offset but i don’t have that kind of time in life right now.

After I accepted the fact that I had to join the pellet smoker sisterhood, I was between a Traeger Timberline and a Yoder.

The Traegers are definitely cool and customizable but in the end went with a Yoder and never looked back.

I can do anything I want on it (smoke, cold smoke, sear, cook pizza, etc), the app is fantastic, and it’s built like an absolute tank.

It’s the only major brand pellet smoker manufactured in America (Kansas) and they let you custom paint the competition models.

I’m also building a new outdoor kitchen and am building this into the configuration.

You won’t regret it.

Woah! That gorgeous Purple and Gold, Well done!

I wish I had found the Yoder first, because I wouldn't have needed to buy the Santa Maria grill with the Yoder versatility. I liked the idea that I could choose which side the hopper was on and that it can reach 700 degrees. Thanks for the input.

Yep and there’s all the add ons. I bought mine through a local BBQ shop and got a discount if I bought the accessories with the unit. I ripped off the bandaid and got the pizza oven, searing racks, shelves, etc. Think it was all just north of $4k in the end. But I expect it to last a very long time.

A friend of mine in bear country in the northeast of the U.S. bought one and had it attacked by a bear one night. Next day he stood it back up and it was ready to use with no issues.

I know 3 people that have one. 2 love then with no issues. The third had problems from the start. sold it with problems disclosed and bought a Traeger and had 0 issues.

Also take a look at lonestargrillz.com/. What I like about them is they claim their auger design allows for actual wood chips they sell to be run in conjunction with the pellets offering a closer to offset smoker experience. I do not have one but if I were buying one it would probably be from them at this point. Yoder are nice too.

Not willing to spend the money but Yoder and Lone Star Grillz seem to be the top 2 and Pitts & Spitts mentioned in the same tier.

I'm going to go with a Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 36 - the additional firebox seems to set it apart from most pellet grills in the same price range.

I was hoping I could make a CampChef model works. It's much cheaper and a friend of mine raves about his, but I can't put one on a "counter top" without additional mods to the surface area and the legs of the grill.

Yoder YS640 was my #1 until they had a price increase. I looked at them several years ago but never pulled the trigger as we were moving and I didn't feel like bringing a used/dirty grill and putting it in storage.

Just bought a new house so the money tree is bare right now otherwise I would spring for a Yoder. Report back after you get it and show some pics of your cooks.

I have an old Camp Chef. When I upgrade, I'm going with the Woodwind Pro also. I like the ability to put chunks of wood in the box to get more of the wood flavor.

After watching tons of youtube videos, this is what convinced me to get the Woodwind Pro. I don't want to babysit an offset smoker so the WW offers the closest you can get to that same taste with not much effort. Glad to see I'm not alone in picking it.

It definitely works better than just pellets, but they're kind of hit or miss on inventory for the wood chips.

I do love the LSG pellet grill, but you can't go wrong with Yoder or Pitts & Spitts either.

lol what?

LINK /

Mak has been around awhile and always considered a top tier commercial pellet smoker.

I’d still go gravity over either of them though.
