Going to see short term pain if Trump keeps cutting spending but it has to be done. We were on an unsustainable path.

It will be better for the nation in the long term

So i thought tax payers were told by these Government workers that they took less pay for better retirement etc... I mean if the avg pay for a government worker is around 100K then i think they have been lying . Lot of Private industry workers don't make that a year. Looking at that Doge site there is entirely to many government agencies.

It’s a slow path to socialism

Once the government spending exceeds private sector, we’ve crossed the divide

And 42% of our GDP being government is supposed to be a good thing? It’s proof this economy has been on the rocks and being artificially propped up since at least Covid with the BS shutting down of everything and trillions in money printing from that time. That model of economy will only lead to full blown pain down the road if you do not do something to accept short term pain before to correct it.

The more you really look into it the more you realize the entire global financial system is just smoke and mirrors built on almost nothing of substance.

Agreed. It's all a house of cards that most of us are essentially forced to speculate in.

Am I off base, or does 30% not seem crazy to me. Is someone able to speak to why that, or even 40%, is a bad thing? Or is it just ideologically driven along the lines of "government = bad"?

When the country was founded, government spending was 2% of GDP.

If you read the constitution, that is probably where it should be today. Over 60% of current government spending are social programs that did not exist when then the country started.

I personally would be fine at 10%-15% but admittedly that is just a random number pulled out of my arse.
